In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. All praise belongs to Allah, the Lord of the worlds.
And peace and blessings be upon the honour of the Prophets and Messengers, Muhammad and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him and upon his family and companions.
Peace and blessings be upon you all.
My brothers and sisters, the number one requirement, the number one necessity that we have in this life is to be forgiven by Allah.
The forgiveness of Allah is the number one thing.
If we have everything else but Allah does not forgive us, then that’s it.
And no matter what sins we have done, if Allah forgives us, alhamdulillah.
Now in this, there is good news.
And the good news is that Allah promised to forgive.
So one is that, say for example, I need money.
And I say, well, I have to go and ask somebody.
And I know, I have some friends who I know, so and so has money, so and so has money.
And I go to them.
Will they give me? Will they not give me? I don’t know.
They have money, but does not mean they will give me.
But if there is somebody who tells me, look, anytime you need money, come to me.
I will give you.
He’s telling you beforehand.
At the time he’s telling me I don’t need it.
But if you need it, come to me, I will give you.
So if I go to somebody who has not told me this, I go with one state of mind.
But if I’m going to somebody who said, you come, I will give you.
Then there is no uncertainty.
He told me to come, I’m coming.
So Allah said this to us.
Allah said,
Allah said, say to them, Ya Muhammad
Ya Ibadiyy, my slaves.
Who?
Who are the Ibad of Allah?
In this ayat Allah is not saying, My Ibadiyy.
Ibadiyy allatheena min nabiyyin wa siddiqeen
No, Allah is saying, allatheena asrafu ala anfusin
People who have transgressed against themselves.
People who have committed sins.
People who have disobeyed Allah .
People who have been indulged in haram.
People who have not done what Allah made farth.
And so on and so on.
Allah said, say to them.
What should I say to them?
I will punish you. I will burn you. No.
Do not despair of the Rahmah of Allah .
At no point don’t feel, Oh my God, what’s the point of making istighfar?
I did so many wrong things. Allah cannot forgive me.
This is haram in Islam. This is kufr.
To say Allah cannot forgive me is kufr.
To say to somebody else, Allah will not forgive you is kufr.
Prophet said, there is a man who somebody asked him,
some person who committed a lot of sins.
He asked this man and the man said, Allah cannot forgive you.
Allah said, you are saying what I can and cannot do.
So Allah says, I will forgive that man and I will put you in Jahannam.
Okay.
So never say this. Anybody. Who?
Whoever it is.
Because forgiveness is for Allah.
Only Allah is the one who forgives.
He is not a human being.
In our religion, in Islam, we don’t go to the Imam and say, please, I made this sin.
You know, give me forgiveness.
You don’t do all this.
It is between you and Allah.
You commit a sin, you ask Allah to forgive.
If you involve somebody else, you ask them to forgive first, then you ask Allah to forgive.
So two kinds of sins.
One is sins in the Hukukullah.
I was supposed to pray, I did not pray.
This is baini wa bain Allah.
So ask Allah to forgive.
Then Hukukul Ibad.
I was supposed to give somebody something I did not give him.
So first give that.
Finish this, then go to Allah.
So Allah says,
And really Allah forgives all sins.
Everything.
As long as you make istighfar.
Allah will forgive shirk, Allah will forgive kufr, Allah will forgive anything.
As long as we make istighfar.
If we die with that, that’s a different story.
If a person dies on kufr, dies on shirk, that’s a different matter.
But while he is alive,
a person has been worshipping idols for a hundred years.
Then he makes istighfar, Allah will forgive.
And there is no shirk.
The biggest shirk is, biggest zulm, sin is shirk.
Even that Allah will forgive if you seek forgiveness.
Then Allah said after this,
And He is Al-Ghafur.
He is Al-Ghafur.
And He is Al-Raheem.
He is the most forgiving, most merciful.
See the mercy of Allah .
The same ayah, if you think about this,
if Allah had said,
This was enough.
This communicates the meaning.
You are sinners?
You are sinners?
Don’t despair of the mercy of Allah.
What does it mean?
It means Allah will forgive me, Alhamdulillah.
No, Allah adds to that.
So this ayah could have been ended here also.
Don’t despair of the mercy of Allah.
Allah will forgive you.
Allah forgives all sins, Alhamdulillah.
No, Allah says,
See the mercy of Allah .
How many times?
But we need to ask.
We need to seek.
Allah used three beautiful words to describe His forgiveness.
Allah said,
He is Al-Ghafoor.
The one who forgives and forgives and forgives.
He is Al-Ghaffar.
Right?
Superlative form of forgiveness.
And He is Al-Ghafir.
The one who continuously forgives.
Rasulullah said,
When a person thinks,
He has made just a niyyah.
He is thinking of doing something good.
So you say,
Well, I am thinking of when I go from here,
I will give $10 in charity to somebody.
They’re still sitting here.
You have not put your hand in the pocket.
You have not taken out the money.
Nothing.
You only made the intention.
Allah causes one good deed,
one hasanah to be written in the account.
Now remember,
So this hasanah is word 10.
It is written already.
Then when the person gives,
so he made the niyyah here
and he forgot.
That one hasanah is still there.
But he made the niyyah.
Now he went outside.
He actually did the good deed.
He gave this $10.
Then Allah will give him from 10 to 700
to beqaidisha.
A person thinks of committing a sin.
Thinks.
Nothing is written.
He commits the sin.
Nothing is written.
The malaika says,
Ya Allah, he did,
he committed the sin.
Allah says, wait.
And Allah knows.
But Allah says, wait.
Maybe he will make istighfar.
Until the end of the day.
He still does not do istighfar.
Then at the end of the day,
one sin is written for him.
Not 10, not 700, one.
Then when he makes istighfar,
forgive him.
Not only forgive him,
Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala,
when you make,
that is why we ask Allah to enable us to make sincere istighfar.
Right?
Tawba ila Allahi,
tawba tan nasuha.
Sincere istighfar.
And turn towards Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala.
Because when Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala forgives,
not only is that sin forgiven,
but it is removed from the record.
And the kiraban katibi in the malaika who write it down,
they are made to forget.
It is as if it was never done.
See the mercy of Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala.
I mean, forgiving was enough, alhamdulillah.
But it’s still there in the record.
No.
Finally,
the Prophet said,
the slave will be produced before Allah.
And Allah will remind him.
And he will say,
on this day,
you did this.
And the slave will say,
yes Ya Rabb.
How will he deny his Rabb?
He cannot deny his Rabb.
Then Allah will say,
on this day, you did this.
He will say, yes Ya Rabb.
And then, on this day, you did this.
Yes Ya Rabb.
He cannot deny his Rabb.
Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala is witness.
He is seeing.
How will he say, no, I did not do that.
And Allah will remind him of sin after sin after sin.
And the slave will feel that I am destroyed.
I’m finished.
I’m standing before my Rabb Jalla Jalaluhu.
And he is reminding me,
of my sins.
And I am,
I have no,
how will I deny that?
I’m finished.
And the Prophet said,
then the slave will say to his Rabb,
he will say,
Ya Allah,
when I was in the world,
when I was doing these things,
you covered me.
You covered my sins.
You did not allow anyone to see it.
You did not allow anyone to,
to see it.
You did not allow anyone to,
to see it.
You did not allow anyone to,
know this.
But today,
on Yawmul Qiyamah,
everybody is here.
The whole world is here.
My own people are here.
My children, my grandchildren,
my parents,
everyone is here.
And I today have been exposed before all of these people.
In the world you hid me,
here I am exposed.
Allah will say to him,
turn around and look.
He will turn around
and there will be a curtain of light.
Allah says,
I covered you there,
and I covered you here.
As-sattar al-yuh.
Al-ghaffar al-zulm.
He said,
I covered you there,
and I covered you here.
This conversation,
this conversation,
is only between me and you.
Allah says,
now I forgive you,
go to Jannah.
Right?
This is our Rabb.
This is our Rabb,
Jalla Jalaluhu.
Allahumma ghaffir lana dhunubana,
wa ghaffir lana sayyatina,
wa tawaffana maa la barara.
La ilaha illa anta subha’a alaka,
inna kulla minaz zalimeena.
Rabbikul warhamma anta khayri,
wa rahimiin.
Ya Karim,
Ya Rahim,
Ya Rahman,
Ya Rahimi.
Ya Aziz,
Ya Ghaffar,
Ya Ghaffur,
Ya Ghafir.
Allahumma ghaffir lana dhunubana,
wa ghaffir lana sayyatina,
wa tawaffana maa la barara.
Rabbina zalimna,
nafuzana,
wa illa amtaghfir lana,
wa tarhamna,
lana kulla minaz khasireen.
La ilaha illa anta subha’a alaka,
inna kulla minaz zalimeena.
Rabbikul warhamma,
wa anta khayri,
wa rahimiin.
Wa salamu ala Allah,
wa rahim.
Rabbikul warhamma,
wa anta khayri,
wa rahimiin.
Wa salamu ala Allah,
wa ala nabiyyil kareem,
wa ala ahlihi,
wa sahbihi ajmain.
Bi rahmatika ya arhaman rahimeen,
wa alhamdulillahi rabbil alameen.
