Advice to Tablighi brothers

Auto-generated transcript:

The purpose of Deen is to excel in it.
Allah SWT said,
Allah did not say to differentiate between who is doing evil and who is doing good. No.
The question of evil does not arise.
It says, in the good, who does the best?
So it’s very important for us, especially when we are out in the path of Allah SWT,
to ensure that we do,
whatever we do,
to the absolute best of our ability.
And obviously it goes without saying that if you want to do something to the best of your ability,
then you have to know how to do it.
It doesn’t come by birth.
It doesn’t come by enthusiasm alone.
Enthusiasm must never be confused for expertise.
They’re two different things.
In battle, for example, you have an experienced warrior, soldier,
you have a soldier,
you have a soldier,
you have a soldier,
you’ve got an enthusiastic one.
The enthusiastic one only dies faster.
That’s all.
Right?
Nothing else.
He’ll never win.
There’s no way that an enthusiastic soldier who does not have the experience is going to beat a true warrior.
Enthusiasm means that he will only die faster.
So also in Deen.
It’s very important for us to ensure that we learn.
To give you a chance to learn.
So we’re going to give you one live example which happened just now.
It is not a criticism of you.
When you decide, when you narrate a hadith after the Salah,
what is the correct way of doing that?
You’re holding a book in your hand.
The first thing it starts from is to say, what are you holding in your hand?
So stand up there and say,
As-Salaam-Alaikum wa Rahmatullah.
Because this is our way.
We first greet people.
As-Salaam.
Qabar al-Khalaam.
Say As-Salaam-Alaikum wa Rahmatullah wa Barakatuh.
This is a hadith from Muntaqab-e-Hadith.
And if it’s a book which generally people may not know who is the author, say the name of the author.
Yusuf Qandawi Rahmatullah Ali.
If you’re using Ayatul Salihin, you need not say it because we know who the author is.
But if you’re using a book which most people may not know, say the author.
And then you say, Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Rahim.
Then you say, Alhamdulillah.
Alhamdulillahi Rabbil Alameen.
Wa Salatu wa Salamu Ala Sharifil Anbiya wal Mursaleen.
Muhammadur Rasool Allahi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam.
Or some version of that.
And then you come to the hadith.
This is our way.
This is not simply open the book, start the hadith.
No.
Salam.
Then what are you saying?
And start with Bismillah.
We start with Bismillah.
And then we say, Salatuna Salam wa Rasoola Salam.
Then you come to the hadith.
Now, these are simple things.
But this is what I advise you and myself is that when you go out in Jamaat, my submission
is create a course of what every person in the Jamaat should learn, depending on the
duration of the Jamaat.
If it’s the sale of the Jamaat, then something which is fit for three days.
If it’s a chilla Jamaat, then something for 40 days.
If it’s a four months, then so on so on.
Create a course.
Go with the course.
Now, the course is not for people to become Muftis.
No.
You will be surprised.
I’ll tell you two incidents, real life incidents.
We had a group of teenagers who went to with one of our Imams to for Umrah.
There they are sitting in a mudhakara and another Alim was with them.
He said, who was the wife of Sayyidina Ali bin Abi Talib?
They did not know.
Can you believe it?
Teenagers.
All of them, all of them, beards.
They were going for Umrah so they obviously concerned God to them.
They come from families which come regularly to the Masjid.
Who is the wife of Sayyidina Ali bin Abi Talib and they don’t know.
Another one.
One of them.
he asked the Imam from where he went, he said, Sheikh, you say Rasool Allah, Rasool Allah,
what does that mean? Who asked? The kid. This is a teenager, he’s not a kid.
Really interesting, seriously. Where is the kid? He’s past his bulukh, his baliq. He does not know
what Rasool Allah means. The reason I’m saying this to you is not to tell you that the people
here are particularly ignorant. This is the state of people today. You will be amazed the level of
ignorance, of the depth of ignorance. They can’t be level. People come here for Salatul Janaza.
I can, I can guarantee you there are not five percent of that majma there who know the dua
of Maqbara to do for the personal pastor.
On the other hand, they will say, is this going to be done in the Shafi’i way or the Hanafi way?
My point is, what difference does it make? You don’t know the dua of Maqbara anyway.
So Shafi’i way, Hanafi way, Maliki way, Ambali way, this way, that way, who cares?
So the focus is very different. The focus is on looking for differences.
Is it Shafi’i, is it Hanafi, is this? And they don’t,
I have done a khatira here. I asked them, okay, what are you? I am Hanafi. Very good.
What was the name of your Imam? He says, Hanafi.
He says I’m Hanafi, he does not even know the name of his Imam.
I’m not even saying that he was actual, use the kuniyya, Abu Hanifa, say Abu Hanifa.
He does not even know that. I am Hanafi.
Allaha wa la khota wa ilaa.
So, there is no difference between the two.
This is a very good opportunity where in the Jawaad people have taken time out.
They have given exclusively for the sake of the Deen.
So have a course of study.
Basic fundamentals, start with the Akhida.
What do you believe?
Who is Allah?
I ask this question very often.
I say, what do you believe as a Muslim?
I believe in one God.
I say, this is the Bunya.
This is the foundation of all corruption.
You believe in one God?
So somebody says, I believe only in Jesus, Allah.
Somebody believes, I believe only in Ganesha.
One God, nobody else.
Is he a Muslim?
Why do you say one God?
Who said Islam is belief in one God?
Islam is not belief in one God.
Somebody says, La ilaha illa ilaha wahid.
There is no one worthy of worship except one God.
Is this the Kalima?
La ilaha illa ilaha wahid.
La ilaha illa Allah.
My point is, you might say, well, you know,
you are telling us to teach this in the Jama’at.
This is something which the mother should have taught in their…
I agree.
My mother taught me.
Maybe your mother taught you.
But the problem is today, mothers are not teaching these things.
Fathers are not teaching these things.
They have no time.
They have no time.
They are teaching these things to the children.
To the children.
And not only in this country.
Believe me.
I am not talking about America.
This is the state of people worldwide.
Muslims.
Basic fundamental things which we…
If I tell you what you think are the thoughts,
I am sure you can’t even imagine the thoughts.
What they don’t know.
You can’t even imagine those thoughts.
They have got those thoughts.
So start with that.
Start with the fundamental points of Akhira.
And again, please don’t go into Ashari and Mathuriri and this.
We are way before that brother, believe me.
We are talking about who is Allah.
We are not talking about whether on his throne is he,
on his throne is he everywhere.
No, we don’t worry about all that.
The two fundamental principles of Aqidah.
Who is Allah? Who is Rasulullah ?
What is our attitude towards Allah?
What must be our attitude towards the Sunnah of Jesus?
Right, start from there.
And then, Fara’il, correcting your Salah.
This is part of our six numbers anyway.
If you ask me, then it’s a number.
So, collecting Salah.
Udu, you will be surprised.
They have no clue how to make Udu.
They have no clue to make istinja.
They have no clue about Hussar.
They have three, four, five children.
They have never done Hussar in their lives.
Their wives have not done Hussar in their lives.
They also don’t know.
Period of highs after highs after highs.
They have no clue what is to be done.
When does highs finish?
What happens if they have different issues of highs and so on.
Nothing, zero.
And also what happens is after you go to a certain age,
you feel ashamed to ask.
They don’t even come and they are afraid to ask.
So, they are afraid to ask.
They are afraid to ask.
So, they are afraid to ask.
So, we don’t want to insult anybody,
we don’t want to, you know,
humiliate anybody.
You say all of this.
I’m sure everybody knows, but I’m telling you.
Now, you know half of them don’t know.
It doesn’t matter.
Don’t take a test.
But make sure.
Farahid.
Issues of Taharah.
Issues of the farahid as far as Salah is concerned
and other things are concerned.
Make this into a course for every jamaat.
Make this into a course for every jamaat.
Depending on the duration.
Say you don’t have to do everything.
Just pick one, do that one and you are good.
Chillah jamaat, but more time.
Because if you only restrict
the work of jamaat
only to going and
giving dawah
and then listening to some fadail,
you are not really maximizing
the time that is available to you.
the time that is available to you.
Do all this.
No problem.
But there is more time.
There is more time.
And now a days
Alhamdulillah
almost every group that comes here
you don’t need it
but I have seen that
there is usually some alim also in the group.
Somebody who has gone to a madrasa or something.
Make use of them.
But even if there is nobody
it doesn’t matter.
There are basic fundamental things which I am sure
somebody in the jamaat will know.
So know that.
Take a book with you.
There are so many small easy books which are available.
Take that, use that
as a way of teaching this.
Of saying fundamental principles.
So also with regard to bans.
Because one of the very common
complaints
which are made about bans
of I don’t mean your thing
but generally about bans of the
tabligh
is the fact that people will make a ban
they will recite Quran wrong,
they will recite hadith wrong, they will bring a story from somewhere
which has no basis.
All of which you and I know it is true.
You cannot deny this.
It is true, it happens.
And there is no need for it to happen.
My point is that.
My point is there is no need for it to happen.
Alhamdulillah we have a deen
which is not based on mythology.
Our deen is based on actual dalail.
We have enough and more sound evidence
for every single thing that we speak there.
Number one.
Number two.
For you and me to recite
an ayat of the Quran wrong.
To make tashee of our recitation
it is our job to do that.
Why on earth would you recite it wrong?
So make sure that you
recite it correctly.
So also with the hadith.
So also hadith.
And never say any story
which does not have
a sound dalail behind it.
We have alhamdulillah enough
very sound stories from the
Hayat-e-Sabah is one of the most beautiful books
to read. It has got
it is really one of the even from
if you read the Arabic version
for Arabic language also it is a fantastic book.
Use that.
You don’t need to get some
story from somewhere and this happened, that happened.
In one era there was a man
who lived in a village.
Which village did he live in?
You don’t need all that.
If you talk about a man
give his name.
Say that Anas bin Malik
did this.
We know who Anas bin Malik is.
We know what he did.
Right. Sahaba, Tabi,
Tabi, Tabi. There is enough and more
more material.
The thing is that you have to apply yourself
to learn that.
So please read it, learn it
then speak that which has
evidence.
Because you want people
to welcome you when you come.
Right. And the
people of the masjid should feel that
okay here are these people. The Imam should
say they are going to make my life easier.
Because they will do part
of my work for me of educating people.
That’s how it should be.
Not that the Imam should say oh my god
they have come here now I have to spend another two weeks
now you know to do the Izaala.
People will come to me
oh he said this now I have to
no no no that’s not what he meant.
No don’t go into this.
Make sure that whatever
you say there has
dhalil. If it is Arabic
you recite it correctly.
If it is any other language say it very clearly
with the dhalil.
So make sure that you are people
who the world will welcome.
They welcome people. I have seen both.
I have seen people who when they go
the masjid
traditionally which are so called
supposedly hostile to tamleek
they open their doors.
They are very happy.
Please come please do the Jummah khutbah.
We don’t do khutbah now really.
But they tell you please come and do the khutbah.
And also the opposite.
So let’s not do that.
So create a course
and then InshaAllah
may Allah grant you great
benefit and may Allah reward you
in keeping with his majesty and grace
may Allah
guard your and my tongues
to say only that which is haqt
and to say it in a way
which is beneficial
for the person who is listening
and for the person who is speaking both.
Wa sallallahu alayhi wa sallam alayhi al khairim
wa ala alihi wa sahbihi ajma’in
bi rahmati kaarun wa barakatuh.
