As-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh. Alhamdulillahi Rabbil ‘Alameen. Wa salatu wa salamu ala ajla bil anbiya wal mursaleen. Muhammadur Rasulullah ﷺ daswiman kathiran kathiran. Amma badu.
My dear brothers and sisters, Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala commanded us in Zahir, يَا حِدُوا أَن لَذِينَ هَابْنُوا طُوءُ إِلَى اللَّهِ ضَوَّةً لَسُوْعًا. Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala said, “O you who believe, turn towards Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala with sincere repentance.”
I remind myself and you that everything good begins with hudu ila Allah. Everything, the reception. Everything good begins with turning to Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala. And when we do not turn to Allah, when we insist on the subhani Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala, that is the beginning of everything evil.
There were two who made a mistake. One, when he was commanded along with the Malay, he had to make sajda to Adam alayhi salam, who Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala created with his own hands, he refused. He did not refuse to make sujood to Allah. He refused the kamayas of Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala to make sajda to Adam alayhi salam. His logic was, he had a babi. His logic was, this is makhluq, this is not the khaliq. His logic was, ana hayrun minhu, halam dhani min naar, wa khalat tawminti. I am better than him. You created me from fire, you created me from clay.
And when Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala still in his great mercy, gave him an opportunity to turn towards Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala, to admit his mistake, to make istighfar and tawbah, he did not take care of it for him. He said, anseati ila yamni wa suh, give me time until the day of judgment. It’s a mistake. He did not refuse to make sajda to Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala. He did not deny Allah, but he refused to obey the tamand of Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala.
And there were our father and our mother and father, who were the beggings. They were told, don’t go near the street. But they went. But as soon as they realized their mistake, they did not ask for time. They did not present a logic. They did not even blame blame the one who led them to do that sin. They said, Rabbana zalamna anfusan wa illan tahzir lana wa tarhamna lana kunanna minal khasirin. They did not say, “it’s not our fault, it’s the shaitan, he is the one to know.” Whether shaitan misled me or somebody else misled me, at the end of the day, I am the one who decided to take that action. Therefore, I hold myself accountable and responsible and therefore, I need to step forward. This is the position of the Muslim. We don’t blame the world for what we do. At the end of the day, no matter who said what, I had the choice to say, sorry, excuse me, I don’t listen to me. I follow the footsteps of the Rasul, not your footsteps.
Because Allahﷻ said very clearly, Ya ayyuha ladina a’ramu wudhukhulu fis-sil niqa’a fanal wa la matta’a tari’u khutuati shaitan innahu lakum adhukum mubeen. Because Allahﷻ warned us very, very clearly. Allah said, “O you who believe, enter into Islam completely and totally, not partially, not only in the masjid, not only in the form of the dhobiya, the amama, and the jubba, not only in the form of the hijar and the nisaab, fully and completely, totally in your ibadat, in your ma’alilat, in your akhfah, in your aqa’id.” In your ma’ajara, all the five elements of Islam: Aqeera, ibadat, ma’amilat, ma’ajarat, akhfah. Fully, completely in Pisa. And Allahﷻ said, I want clearly, and Allah said, do not follow the footsteps of shaitan. He is an open and clear and you do. Allah did not say, don’t follow shaitan. Allah said, don’t follow the footsteps of shaitan. What is the difference between following shaitan and following the footsteps of shaitan?
If I tell you, don’t follow so and so, what is the implication? The implication is that that person is also this. Right? That person is there, I’ll say, don’t follow him. But if I say, don’t follow his footsteps, what does it mean? It means that person is gone. He is not there. Only his footsteps remain. And you are pointing and say, don’t follow those footsteps. So if I choose to follow the footsteps, whose responsibility is it? My responsibility. Because the other, that person who made the footsteps, not even there, I can’t say, he did it. That’s why shaitan on the day of death will say, “don’t set an end on me. Don’t break it. Blame yourself.” So I find myself by you. All goodness begins with turning toward the Lord. Rabbana zalanna antosan. O illam takfir bana, wa tarhamna, ladakunanna minal saseeli. Wadar we have round ourselves. And if you do not follow us, and if you do not dirt guard us, and if you do not get mercy on us, then truly and surely we will be among the losers.
So I invite myself and you, let us make istaffa. As we see here, let us make istaffa. Let us dirt guard Allah, subhanahu wa ta’ala. Let us dirt guard. Let us make istaffa. Let us think about what is it in my life that is not according to the ahkaam of Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala, not according to the orders of Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala, and not according to the blessed surda of his messenger Muhammad, and bring it in thine do them. Let us all do them… because Rasulullah sallalaahu alaihi wa sallam said, He said, all the children of Adab, peace be upon him, they wear new specks. They come in chains. But the best of the sinners are the ones who dirt the word of Allah, peace be upon him.
And that is why Allah, peace be upon him, commanded us in Surah Al-Ghut, There are two words, istighfar and tawbah. Istighfar is to apologize. It is to repent. It is to say sorry. And tawbah is to turn towards something. So tawbah is to turn towards Allah, peace be upon him. In the Quran, these words, if only one is used, then it means both. But if both are used as it is said, “Make istighfar to your Lord and turn towards Him.” Then the two are implied in that individual meaning. Istighfar is to make an apology. It is to regret. And tawbah is to turn towards Allah, peace be upon him. And in this act of day, Allah, peace be upon him, is showing us the seep on us. As soon as we become aware of what we have done, The first and foremost thing is to regret. To be sorry. To feel bad about it. To promise yourself never to do that again.
It makes no sense. We make a mistake. We commit a sin. We say astaghfirullah, astaghfirullah, do it again. What is astaghfirullah? To commit a sin once is a mistake. It is open to Allah, peace be upon him, as forgiveness. To commit that sin again and again is very dangerous. Because then we can get into the area of a crime. What is a crime? A crime is a safe thing when it is not delivered. May Allah keep you safe when you are driving on the road. May Allah keep you safe and keep everyone safe from you. If you hit somebody, accidentally the person dies, it’s an accident, manslaughter. At the most you might pay a fine or something. If it was not your fault, if the other guy jumped in front of your car, even that is not there, although it’s a terrible thing. But supposing you are driving on the road and you see this guy coming and you know you got something against this guy, you line up the car and you nail him. What happens now? Now that is premeditated murder, right? Very sweet, depending on which country you are in. So do it. If you commit something deliberately, you know something is wrong. We know we should not tell lies. We know we should not give and take bribes. We know we should not earn harm. We know we should not be in interest-based products. We know we should not buy and sell products because, you know, I’m not selling to Muslims. I’m telling not Muslims. Since when does a Muslim have this permission from Allah subhana wa ta’ala to sell bribes? Is that bad stuff to non-Muslims? Not to Muslims? Is that why Allah subhana wa ta’ala sent us into this world? Or did Allah send us into this world and say kuntum khairah ummatin ukhriyyat linnas? Allah did not say ukhriyyat linnas. And what are we supposed to do? Ta’maruna lil ma’roof, wa tanhawangani munkar, wa tu’minu nabila. O you who believe, you have been selected for the benefit of all mankind, benefit of annas. Man huwa annas? Al-Muslimin, al-Mushideen, al-Qufa, al-Mushideen, al-Nasratiyot, al-Hindus, al-Yahudiyot, kullu annas. Ukhriyyat linnas for their benefit, everybody.
And what should we do? Ta’maruna lil ma’roof, ta’maruna lil ma’roof. Allah did not say ta’maruna lil sala, no. Ta’maruna lil ma’roof. Kullu ma’roof. Salil ma’roof, zakari ma’roof, qaala lil ma’roof. Every good thing, command, every good thing. Wa tanhawangani munkar, and stop evil. The hadith of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, where Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said if you see something wrong happening, stop it with your head. Wa illa kassateh, and if you are unable to do that, speak out against it. And you are still not able to do that hate it in your heart so you hate something in your heart what must you do? remove yourself from it go away from it today in the name of Nikah which is Mustahab which is if you do it according to Sunnah it is Anibadan in the name of Nikah in the name of Walima which is Sunnah you know I know what is this you know I know what happens in I live in America may Allah have mercy on all of you what I have seen happening in weddings parties in this country I have not even seen in America then we come to the mercy that if somebody is craving we got a problem with it what is this? this is the Sunnah regret it say I will never do it again regret it I didn’t do it anymore I don’t think the sun will rise again what do you say when somebody falls what do you say when somebody falls what will you think then ? when somebody falls what will you do? and he will see I will see what will you see Please make Dwapar. He said, Basta tu Dwapar. Go make stuffa. Another man came and said, I have no order. I have no children. We are desperate for children. Peace. He said, Basta tu Dwapar. Go make stuffa.
So in Musa ibn-e-Muridin, they said to him, Please explain this to us. Three people came with three different needs. And he gave the same solution for this, for all of them. And this is Tafsir al-Khutbi. Masa al-Basir said, this is not my opinion. This is what Allah has said. In Surah An-Nu, Allah said very clearly. Nuh said to the people, you got problem? Make this stuffa for Allah . This is the mercy of Allah . Allah did not teach you in doubt. First of all, Rabbakum is complete in itself. What will Allah do? Allah will do whatever He wants. No. He is the one who forgives. So Allah is giving tasalli. Allah is giving comfort to the person to say, If you ask, Allah will give you. But make sure you ask. I am made of this thing. May Allah forgive you. I will send bread to you. Your drought goes away. With wealth. So your poverty goes away. And children. Allah will give. He will keep doing to us. It is not just a empty ritual which you and I say. This is something which has power.
In his old days. He was very old at the time. He was carrying somewhere. And you know. There is no pump and splendor. He does not have a huge bunch of people. Which is good. With his. With a bundle of whatever he has. His clothes and something. So he reaches this place. This small village. Very late in the night. He goes to the masjid. There is a masjid there. He goes to the masjid. He prays. In the masjid. And then the muhaddir is there. And he says to the muhaddir. I am a stranger here. He does not say. I am. I have been humble. I am the. At that time. He was the khatib. And imam of masjid. And otherwise sharif. He is no one bigger than that. He did not. He does not introduce himself. He just says. I am a traveller. And I know. I know. I do not know anybody here. And obviously there is no. Holiday in to check in. So he says. You know. I have no one. So if you permit me. I will sleep in the corner. In the masjid. But not clearly what happens. Or what should happen. So the muhaddir says. Most welcome. Please come sleep. This masjid says. No. You cannot sleep here. Leave. The muhaddir says. This is the. It is middle of the night. It is late night. Where would I go? I am an old man. I have got no one here. He says. That is not my problem. You cannot sleep here.
So the muhaddir says. You know. Those days. Basathis had the. What we call. You know. The sand. So there is the. The area. The masjid. Where you pray. And there is an open area. So he says. At least. Let me sleep in the sand. Under the. Under the sky. You know. There is some safety. Instead of on the road. What will I do? So let me sleep in the sand. Go. To the extent. He picks up. Imam Ahmad’s. Saman. His bag. He pushes him. Out of the masjid. And he throws the. Saman. His clothing. And so on. On the street. And the way. He pushes him. Imam Ahmad is an old man. He is not. He is not strong. He also falls down. So literally. He throws him. Out of the masjid.
Now there is a bakery. Opposite. In the masjid. And there is. This baker. In the masjid. He is making. His bread. And he sees. This commotion. He says. What is happening? He says. This old man. He is being. Thrown out of the masjid. So he leaves. His bakery. He comes there. He picks up. His saman. He picks him up. And he says. I apologize. You know. Please come. Come and. Come and. Stay in my shop. Because as a baker. Bakers. Work all night. They make bread. In the night. So the bread. Is ready. In the morning. So he takes him. To his shop. He makes. His bread. And so on. He says. You stay here. Here. Some bread. Eat some food. Stay here. In the night. No grow. This story. Is written. By. Sir. Sir. Says. That. I noticed. While I was there. I was very thankful. To the man. He said. I noticed. That. To continuously. Use man. Why. He is making. This. Bread. He is making. His. Worship. For. For. My. Continuously. The man. Is making. His. Worship. Why. Is. Bread.
So. The. Man. Will. Solve. His. Problems. For. Him. And. All. Will. Extract. Him. cannot imagine and this is the literally the tafseer of the ayat of surah talakh so ibn muhammad said i thought of this he says while all this was happening he said at some time when the man stopped for a little bit i asked this man i said what is your he said i noticed that you continuously make islifar so allah subhanahu wa ta’ala would have shown you his khudrat there is something some karam of allah that allah would have shown so what does allah show yeah there is it has to be some special mercy of allah on you so what is it tell me the man said to him he said i don’t know a very taram or anything but allah subhanahu wa ta’ala accepts all my dua and allah has accepted every dua he made except one he said allah accepted every dua i ever made except one so i got very interested what is one dua you made so he said which dua of your fit allah not answer the man said yes i know poor man i make this bread and so on i have a little bit of my little time he said my one desire is to meet ahmad bin hambar that’s all i want to go to madina i want to be imam referee who is the imam of that’s my only wish and i have asked allah so much that allah has not given me this one why my mama started weeping he said yes what happened why you cry he said become of you allah did not allow me to stay in his house he said what do you mean he said i am un uncompeerable example Allah did not allow me to stay in the masjid Allah made that man throw me out of the masjid so I can meet you this is the acceptance of your dua Allah sent me to you you wanted to come to meet me Allah sent me to you
