Dhul Hijjah – #1

Auto-generated transcript:

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. All praise belongs to Allah.
My dear brothers and sisters and elders,
we are in the middle of the best days of the year that Allah has blessed us with.
We thank Allah for giving us life, for guiding us to Islam and for allowing us
to witness another sacred month, the month of Dhul Hijjah,
particularly the first ten days, which are the most virtuous days in the calendar.
These days are a divine gift from Allah for our spiritual growth,
for our to earn hasanat through acts of worship and the opportunity to earn immense reward.
Allah mentioned these days and He said,
By the dawn and by the ten nights.
When Allah
takes an oath by something, it is an indication of its great significance and status.
The Mufassireen are agreed upon that and including Ibn Kathir and others,
that when Allah said,
Layali Nashab, the ten nights, it also refers to the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah.
That these ten nights,
Walfajri wa Layali Nashab refers to the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah.
Allah Subh’anaHu Wa Ta-A’la mentioned night,
but it also includes the day of Dhul Hijjah.
And we have the supporting dhalil of Allah Subh’anaHu Wa Ta-A’la mentioning with respect to Zakariya,
when he said,
You will not speak for three days in one place and three nights for another place.
So it means that the days and the nights, it means the same thing.
Rasulullah , whose words are the truth, further emphasized the importance of these days
in several authentic hadiths in Sayyid Bukhari, which are the words of the Prophet .
Rasulullah is reported to have said,
there are no days in which righteous deeds, good deeds,
are more beloved to Allah Subh’anaHu Wa Ta-A’la than these days.
They asked him, not even jihad in the path of Allah.
He said, not even jihad,
except for a man who goes out with his life and wealth and does not return, returns with nothing.
Rasulullah is telling us that,
acts of worship during Dhul Hijjah are not accepted by Allah.
The Prophet is reported that the day of judgement is not even jihad in all the paths of Allah.
They said, there are less days in which righteous deeds are not accepted by Allah than these days.
The Sahaba, Ridhu Allah, Alayhim Ulay, Wain, Wain. They asked him, not even jihad in the path of Allah.
worship during these 10 days such as salah fasting charity zikr recitation of quran and so on
and more beloved to him than doing the same deeds in any other days that is why rasul
sallallahu used to fast all the first nine days of the hijjah and especially the day of gharafat which
obviously if you to the fire if you fast the nine days the ninth day is the day of gharafa
and he said that fasting on the day of gharafa expiates and wipes out the sins of the past year
and the coming year and this is a muslim the day of gharafa or yawal is the name for the ninth of
the hijjah just as yamun nahar is the name given to the day of which is the 10th we have been
instructed to celebrate it and to fast on it wherever and whenever it occurs in our country
of residence
we have not been instructed to follow saudi arabia or any other country and if anyone
interested i will give you the latest fatwa from the legend of roma of saudi arabia which
specifically states this do not follow saudi arabia follow the sighting in your country
so we have not been we have asked we have been asked to use that day for our benefit not to
create dissonance and division and conflict in the country

I remind myself and you that we must become greedy about accumulating good deeds.
Just think of how greedy we are with accumulating wealth.
We do not miss any opportunity.
We don’t care how painful it may be and how hard we may need to work
or what other activity or interest we may need to give up.
And may Allah help us, we don’t even worry about whether it is halal or haram.
But we must get wealth, anyhow.
If there is an opportunity to make money, we give that precedence over everything else.
So how about accumulating hazanat, which will come with us into the next world.
I remind myself and you, let us remember that we will die.
Let us not die with regret that we lost the opportunity to accumulate the only wealth
which will help us when we meet Allah.
So let’s take advantage of the opportunities that Allah gives.
He gives us to learn and to earn His pleasure before we are summoned before Him.
That day will come, but we don’t know when.
So let’s not delay in accumulating our real wealth.
Now some acts of ibadah that we can do.
One is to increase the amount of dhikr, the remembrance of Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala that we do.
In the hadith in Musnad ibn Ahmad, Rasulullah s.a.w. mentioned
and he said that there are no days greater and more beloved.
to Allah than these ten days of Dhul Hijjah.
So increase in them your declaration of La ilaha illallah, tahlil,
and saying Allahu Akbar, takbir, and saying Alhamdulillah, tahmid.
So let us make a habit of saying Allahu Akbar, La ilaha illallah, Alhamdulillah, Subhanallah,
Subhanallah, Alhamdulillah, La ilaha illallah, Allahu Akbar.
So this is a thing which all of us know all these words.
So try and do that throughout the day and the night as much as you can.
Second very important act of worship that is possible for us is fasting.
Past the first nine days and of course especially the night of Dhul Hijjah,
the Yawwun Arafah and Rasulullah s.a.w. said as I mentioned before,
it expiates the sins of the past year and the coming year.
Imagine two years worth of sins,
and you are forgiven for fasting just one day.
So let’s not miss it.
Then third thing is the Salah and Quran.
Let us make sure that we guard our five daily prayers.
There is nothing that is more important than the first Salah at its time.
That is the peak, that is the number one Ibadah.
So let us make sure that we do not miss that.
And as far as possible pray that in Jam’ah, in the Masjid,
and that is obviously 27 times a day.
That is the reward of praying alone.
But never miss it anyway.
Second one is, let us make it a habit of adding at least two kinds of Nafl Salah.
One is Tahajjud and one is Salatul Dhawah.
So when the sun comes up after Salatul Faisal.
It’s a very good practice to make it a habit to wake up one hour before the time for Salah,
Salatul Fajr starts and then pray Tahajjud as many times as Allah gives Tawfiq,
at least two and then recite one Juz of Quran.
And if you can’t make the whole Juz, do recite as much as you can.
And then go to the Masjid for Salatul Fajr.
And think about, make this into a routine.
Pray Salatul Isha by Jam’ah.
Rasool Allah said you will get the reward for praying half the night.
Then you wake up for Tahajjud one hour before Salatul Fajr.
Pray Tahajjud, read Quran and go for Salatul Fajr at the Masjid.
And then you, Dawah said, Dawah, you pray Salatul Fajr by Jam’ah.
Allah will give him the reward for the other half of the night.
So if you do this, then we have got, inshaAllah,
reward for worshipping Allah the entire night.
Plus the reward for Tahajjud.
And the benefit of Tahajjud is this is a time when Allah descends to the first heaven
in a manner that suits His Majesty and grace.
Allah announces and says who is there who wants my help?
Who is there who needs my protection?
Who is there who needs anything?
Let him ask.
So there is a difference.
We can make Dua anytime.
But there is a difference between making Dua anytime and making Dua at a time when the
one to whom Dua is being made is saying, call me now.
So let’s do that.
Let’s not waste that time.
And in sleeping, let us wake up and do that.
Make this into a routine and imagine what a beautiful day you will have going forward
from then.
When you wake up, you will have a beautiful day.
You will have a beautiful day.
You will have a beautiful day.
You will have a beautiful day.
You will have a beautiful day.
You will have a beautiful day.
You ended your day with Jama’at Salah.
You begin your day with Jama’at Salah.
And in between you have Tahajjud and the recitation of Quran.
So let us make sure you do that.
Number four is charity and good deeds.
These are the best days to do as many good deeds as possible.
Nothing is too small.
Small deeds done consistently are better than a lot of intense effort once in a while.
The Hadith of Abu Hurairah Radhi Allahu Anhu and Musarratul Muhammad were Rasulullah’s
Prophet said,
Rasulullah said,
Take up good deeds only as much as you are able for the best deeds are those done regularly
even if they are few or even if they are small.
Then he did also our mother Aisha Siddiqa Wadi Al Anha.
She said Rasulullah was asked,
What deeds are loved most by Allah?
He said the most regular constant deeds, even though they may be small.
And he added,
Sallallahu alaihi wasallam,
Don’t take upon yourselves except deeds that are within your ability.
And listen to Sahih Bukhari.
There is a story of Abu Ayyub al-Ansari Radhi Allahu Anhu who said that,
When I was young, in my young days, I went to Rasulullah and I said,
How much Quran should I recite every day?
Rasulullah said,
Read one Juz, one part.
He said, I kept on asking him more and more and more until he said,
Read 10.
And then he said,
Do not read more than 10 in one day because this is the haqq of the Quran that you must
read with peace and you know,
With patience and understanding and so on and so on.
Don’t just rush to the part.
So he said now and now he’s talking about even when he’s in his 80s and 90s.
He said,
Now I find this very difficult because imagine reading 10 Juz every day and he got this from
his Hasanam.
So he said,
I wish I had not pushed him at that time to prescribe this for me because now this has
become a problem for me.
So Alhamdulillah, do what you can do, but make sure you do something.
Right.
Don’t just let the day pass.
And one of the most important things, one of the most critical things, one of the most
beneficial things and to leave that is beneficial and to do it is harmful is social media, is
useless talk, is useless argument.
Right.
Please let us make sure that we spend our time usefully.
We ask Allah to help us to do that, which is pleasing to Him.
