Bismillahirrahmanirrahim. Alhamdulillahi Rabbil Alameen. Wasalatu wasalamu ala ashrafil ammi wal mursaleen. Muhammadur Rasulullahﷺ sallallahu alayhi wa ala alihi wa sahbihi wa sallam. Tasliman kathiran kathira. We are on the fifth and the last of the things to keep in mind and ways to live in difficult times. We ask Allahﷻ to relieve the difficulty for all of us inshallah. And to help us to learn from the seerah of Rasulullahﷺ what he taught us.
The first of those things is to stop saying if or if only. We are pleased with the qadar of Allahﷻ knows and you do not know. And we know that Allahﷻ does for us what is the best for us. And what is that best Allahﷻ knows and we don’t know. So that is the second thing is we do not complain. The third thing. The fourth thing is we don’t stop. We stop rehearsing disasters. In our minds if this goes wrong, that goes wrong, that goes wrong. Inshallah, nothing will go wrong. No matter what happens, whether everything goes right or whether everything goes wrong, the fact remains that one day this whole life will end. And we go before Allahﷻ Then it won’t matter what went right, what went wrong. What matters is what is right and wrong with Allahﷻ If Allahﷻ is displeased with us, whatever happened in the world doesn’t matter. Whether it was good or bad. So we must focus on pleasing Allahﷻ That is the only thing which is for us to focus on. And the fourth one is what to do with wasawis. Waswas of shaitan. Shaitan tries to tempt. Shaitan has no power. But he plays these games. So do you play the game with shaitan or do you reject shaitan? And the answer obviously is we reject shaitan. But we must do this constantly, not just one time. Constantly. And we ask Allahﷻ for his help. And Allahﷻ promised to help us. These are the four things. Today, the fifth and last one. And this one is very very important. Because this one relates directly to the kind of world that we live in. And that is stop comparing your life.
Now, for our better of us, we are born in a time where we have been conditioned from birth to compare ourselves. Compare with this, compare with that, compare with that. And more and more and more, thanks to the consumerist society, the whole society is based on comparison. You have influencers. What are those? They are giving you a standard. This is how you should be. If you are 40 years old, this is the amount of wealth you should have. If you are 50, this is how much you must have. In your career, you should be here, you should be there. You are benchmarking against, you know, people across the world. Based on demographics, based on God knows what, right? If you are wearing clothes, this is the kind of clothes you should wear. This is the watch you should have. How come you don’t have an Apple watch? Constantly, the whole time, compare, compare, compare. Now, this is the root cause of all evil. This is the root cause of dissatisfaction. This is the root cause of constantly living in a state of ungratefulness to Allahﷻ There are people, I mean, there is a friend of mine, he is not a Muslim, but he is if you look at his career, he has had a fantastic career. He worked for the best companies, top jobs, but any time you ask him, he says, Pratik, how are you doing? What can I say, man? It is going on. But this is the reality. Unfortunately, this is the state, even of Muslims. Because you compare. Now, if you compare, Allahﷻ no matter who you are, no matter who you are, you name for me, according to you, who is the wealthiest and the most powerful person in the world, and I will tell you what is wrong with him. Everybody has got that. No matter how much wealth you have, no matter what power you have, there is no power. There will always be somebody who has more. There will be always something where you say oh, you know what, I don’t have this. This is the nature of this world and this is the nature of humanity. You cannot escape that. The only way of escaping that is to thank Allah
