Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem, Alhamdulillahil Alameen, wassalatu wassalamu ala ashrafil anbiya wal mursaleen, Muhammadun Rasulullah ﷺ tasliman kaseeran kaseeran, khawam wa badu. My brothers and sisters, we spoke about dua a few days back and I mentioned to you all the dalail about dua and so on. Dua is to ask Allah Subh’anaHu Wa Ta-A’la. As we know, Allah Subh’anaHu Wa Ta-A’la Himself commanded us to make dua. He said, “Ask me, I will give you.” Then in another place, in the middle of the ayat concerning fasting, Allah Subh’anaHu Wa Ta-A’la said, “When my slave asks about me, I am close to him. Let him ask and I will give. Let him answer my call. Let him obey me and let him have faith in me, iman in me. So that he may be rightly guided.” So Allah Subh’anaHu Wa Ta-A’la put two conditions on dua. To make dua, there are no conditions. You can make dua in any state, anywhere, any situation. And as I’ve said before, it makes eminent sense because when the person needs Allah, he needs Allah. At that time you cannot tell him, go and have a shower, take a shower, make ghusl, stand here, stand there. He needs Allah right now. He needs Allah Subh’anaHu Wa Ta-A’la right now. He needs Allah. So he can ask Allah. Right? Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, even if you need a shoelace, ask Allah Subh’anaHu Wa Ta-A’la. If the shoe strap is broken, ask Allah Subh’anaHu Wa Ta-A’la. Meaning that there is nothing that you cannot ask Allah Subh’anaHu Wa Ta-A’la for.
So Allah Subh’anaHu Wa Ta-A’la is saying, to ask there is no condition. But, for the acceptance of dua, two conditions. One, become obedient. Obey Allah Subh’anaHu Wa Ta-A’la. Answer my call. The Prophet says, “Come for salah.” Don’t wait. Answer my call. I have a rule for myself which I try to practice. Anytime I get a thought to do something good, I do it immediately. I don’t wait. For example, if I am going for salah, I know I have wudu. But I get the thought to say, maybe I should make wudu, I go make wudu. I don’t argue, according to the fiqh, as long as you do not remember breaking the wudu, your wudu is valid, all that is correct. But you get, wudu is ibadah. Allah Subh’anaHu Wa Ta-A’la rewards you for wudu. Make wudu.
I have already, for example, I am sitting in the masjid. After Salatul Fajr, we know the hadith of Prophet ﷺ, he said that the person who after Salatul Fajr by jama’ah, and then remains in his place in the zikr of Allah. Not talking about this and that and joking and nothing, don’t say one word. Zikr of Allah, in the same place. Until ishraq, until sunrise. And then he prays two rakat and two rakat. Allah will give him the reward of one hajj and one umrah. Yeah? One hajj and one umrah. And this we can get every single day. So, I mean, I knew the hadith, but the other day somebody sent it to me again. So I see it as, this is from Allah Subh’anaHu Wa Ta-A’la, Allah is reminding me, see, remember this. So I started doing that. I will not move from here, I will sit here, I will do my zikr, whatever I have to do. So immediately, as soon as you get a thought, complete it, all right? Don’t wait. That’s obedience.
You may not be, have iman in Allah Subh’anaHu Wa Ta-A’la. Now this iman is expressed also in the way you ask Allah Subh’anaHu Wa Ta-A’la. Sometimes we ask Allah Subh’anaHu Wa Ta-A’la, keeping all that we know, keeping our own limitations in mind. Right? For example, you might say, “Allah, enable me to live in a place and enable me to have enough money to be able to afford the best medical care.” But that is a completely stupid dua. If you are making this dua, make astaghfar, make tawbah. What should you ask Allah Subh’anaHu Wa Ta-A’la? Say, “Ya Allah, keep me in a state until my last breath where I don’t need medical treatment, I don’t need doctors, I don’t need hospital. Keep me healthy and happy and with iman and with afiyah and take me in that state. Finished. Alhamdulillah. Why do you care about which medical hospital and which doctor?” Ask duas in keeping with Allah Subh’anaHu Wa Ta-A’la’s khudrat. Don’t ask duas in keeping with your and my limitations. Our Sheikh used to say, “Allah miyyah ke tumhai hai, bade bhai se mang rahe hain, Allah se mang rahe hain,” he used to say. Aise ke, koi lagale dua ya magta hai. The reason we ask these kinds of duas is because the tape is running in our head. No, no, but you know, this is possible, that is not possible, this is what doctors told me, this is what.. Every single day. Every single thing is not applicable to Allah Subh’anaHu Wa Ta-A’la, ab maang rahe kisi yeh moharna, my bhai. You are asking the musabbibul azbaab, you are asking the one who creates the azbaab. Similarly people say, “Ya Allah if there is khair in this, I don’t, I never make this dua.” If there, what is the, where is the if? If Allah says ab maang rahe hain, toh if and but kaya cheez hai? What is if, what is but? Allah, if there is khair, what do you mean, what do you mean if there is khair? Allah puts the khair. There will be khair if Allah puts khair. There will be blessing in it if Allah puts it there. So I am asking Allah Subh’anaHu Wa Ta-A’la, I will say, “Ya Allah put the blessing in it and give it to me.” Is Allah doing a guessing game, is it here, is it there, oh I am sorry there is no khair in this, I can’t help you. Aisa hai kya, naus billah. Khair min Allahi Ta-A’la, khair is from Allah Subh’anaHu Wa Ta-A’la. If and but kaya so hai? That is the reason why Allah Subh’anaHu Wa Ta-A’la taught us how to make dua. Khair min Allahi Ta-A’la, khair is from Allah Subh’anaHu Wa Ta-A’la.
In the Quran Allahmudmittal mentioned the dua that Zakariya alaihi salam made. The beautiful ayah in Surah Maryam. So Allah Subh’anaHu Wa Ta-A’la mentioned that Zakariya alaihi salam is standing in ez Mihrab. So he is making dua while making salah. And then he says, nida’an khafiya. He asked in a small voice. He is not saying “Ya, Allah ya,” you know. Small voice. Allah knows what is in your heart. So you don’t have to shout. Quietly, small voice. And then what does he say? He first puts his own weakness, his own problems before Allahﷻ. And of course Allah knows already But this is the abudiyat, the condition of abudiyat. The condition of being a slave of Allahﷻ that you go beg him. So he says, “Ya Allah, my bones have become weak. My hair has become white. I have an old man. My wife, she is beyond the age of childbirth. So she cannot have children anymore.” But then what does he ask? He asks Allahﷻ. And now he is asking Allahﷻ in keeping with Allahﷻ’s power. He is not asking, he is expressing his issues and problems and weaknesses. But he is not asking in line with that. He is asking Allah as Allah. So he says, “Ya Allah, but give me Allah as Allah. Give me a waris. Give me an heir. To carry forward this work of Dawat.” He did not say, “give me a second wife. This one is old, give me a young wife.” No. She may be old, she may be whatever. Allahﷻ is the one who brought out a pregnant camel from the mountain Fazal-e-Alaihis Salam. If Allahﷻ can bring out a pregnant camel out of a rock, He cannot give your wife a child if you want. So you ask Allahﷻ in keeping with His Majesty.
If you receive the, if you read the duas of Rasulullah SAW and it’s a good idea to memorize those duas. And he used to make duas constantly. Every instance, every single thing used to be connected with Allahﷻ. And he would make dua for every single thing. If you look at those, Those duas are a personal conversation Between Allahﷻ and Rasulullah SAW. Allahﷻ gave me this and Rasulullah SAW gave me that. May Allah forgive me. So ask Allahﷻ like this. Let us break it into something that we do constantly. The duas, some of my duas my sheikh used to make. He used to say, “You should say: Don’t make me dependent on anyone other than yourself in this dunyaAn khirat.” He used to say that every sin has an associated disease with it. Every sin has an associated calamity with it. When you commit a sin, that’s why you get illnesses, that’s why you get diseases, that’s why you get calamities. What is the dhalil for this? The dhalil for this is Allah Subh’anaHu Wa Ta-A’la mentioned very clearly in the Qur’an. Allah said, “We give you a small punishment. We give you a small punishment before the big punishment so that you can return to Allah Subh’anaHu Wa Ta-A’la.” So, if you are going astray and Allah Subh’anaHu Wa Ta-A’la likes you and loves you, then Allah Subh’anaHu Wa Ta-A’la will slap you on the wrist. So, you turn around. You make rujut to Allah Subh’anaHu Wa Ta-A’la. May Allah have mercy on us.
We remember Allah only when there is a trouble, when there is problems, when there are problems. So, Allah Subh’anaHu Wa Ta-A’la will give you a problem. How to avoid that? Don’t commit sins. Constantly make istighfar. Don’t commit sins. If you commit, then make istighfar. Then there will be no diseases, no difficulties, no losses. It used to happen in the world. Don’t worry about it. There will be COVID in the world. You won’t get it. What will you do now? Something is happening. Jismi qalbhi ruhi sirri guna. Jismi guna, qalbhi guna, ruhani guna and their amrats and the diseases associated with them. Keep them safe. Keep your heart pure from Allah Subh’anaHu Wa Ta-A’la. Keep your light. Fill your heart with your love. You say, “Allah, clean my heart from everything other than yourself.” And fill it with your light and with your love. And then I make dua and I say, “Allah, Rizqan halalan tayyiba de. Abne paas se de. Tohfatan de. Bagair hisab ke de. Aur hisab mat le.” Say, “Allah, give me rizqan halalan tayyiba. Pure rizq. And give me that rizq with Izzah. I know I shouldn’t have to work like a, you know, like a bullock or something to get my door. Peacefully, with Izzah, with dignity, with ease.” Halalan tayyiba. Abne paas se de. Rast. I make dua and I say, “Allah, my rizq you have written already. Don’t make me run around for it. You give me. Why should I ask anybody?”
One friend, a very dear friend of mine, he said, “I make dua, you Allah. Enable me to work hard.” I said, “you are stupid. Enable you to work hard? Why should you work?” Make dua, “Allah, give me without working hard. Why should I work hard?” You want to work hard because it’s a good thing? That’s a different issue. You are making dua for hard work? Are you mad? He said, “Allah, give me. You have already written for me. What you have written, I will get. What you have not written, I will not get. Why am I running around worried? Give it to me. You can give it to me. Toh fatan de. Bagair hisaab ke de, aur hisaab mat. Give me without limit because you have no limits.” And if it’s a gift from you and you are giving without limit, don’t ask me for it. Kahun se kamaa hai? Ab diye. Kahun se mein nahi kamaa hai. Where did you want it from? No, from nowhere. You gave me. Gift from you. Hisaab mein kya dana? Ab diye main liya khaya. Ab khila main khaya. I make dua, I say, what a beautiful relationship that Allah has with us. He is raziq, we are mazook. Allah khilate, am khate. Ha? Ha? Ha? Ha? Maalik ha mahaqoom, ha maamlook. He is the owner, we are the slaves. Now that has to be proven. In the sense that, if you are maamlook, then obey Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala. Don’t act like a maalik. We are not maalik. Maalik Allah. Hakim, mahaqoom. Allah is the one who give hukum. We are the ones who follow the hukum. So we ask Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala to have this relationship of abudhiyah, relationship of obedience, relationship of love for Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala. And enable us to express that in our words, in our deeds, in our feelings, and to live a life of obedience, a life of khair, a life of barakah, we ask Allah to fill our life with that. We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala to protect us from all the calamities and all the illnesses and all the problems that He knows and we do not know. We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala not even to solve problems. We ask Allah to… To protect us from the problem itself. Let the problem itself not come. So the question of solving does not happen. We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala to fill our lives with khair and barakah. And we ask Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala to keep us healthy and happy and contented and keep us with Izzah, with power and authority, with honor and dignity until our last breath and to take us in a state where we are making shukur to Him and where we are glorifying Him, and where we are establishing His tawheed. Wa sallallahu alayhi wa sallam ala Nabi al-karim wa ala alihi wa sahbihi ajma’in. Bi rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.
