Bismillah ar-Rahman ar-Rahim. Alhamdulillahi Rabbil Alameen.

Wasalatu was-salamu ala ashrafi al-anbiya wal-mursaleen. Muhammadur Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa ala alihi wa sahbihi wa sallam. Tasliman dathiran dathira. And my brothers and sisters, Alhamdulillah. Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala mentioned

the era of the hajj.

in several places in the Qur’an, in Surah Al-Isra, in Surah Al-Sajdah and most of all in Surah Al-Muzzamil, which is one of the first Surahs to be revealed immediately after the opening ayat

سورة الاقرآن کے ساتھ ایک سورہ ہے جہاں ایک مذہبی یا مذہبی تھا، لیکن مزیدی طور پر ایک مذہبی تھا جہاں اللہ سبحانہ وتعالی نے تحجید کے صلاحوں میں in detail and commanded Rasulullah to wake up and stand in this Salat, which is Salat Hajj.

And then Allah said, Ya ayyuhal muzzammil qumin layla illa qaleelah, stand for the whole night except for a little bit, nisfahoo abin qusminu qaleelah awzidha alaih, half the night, three three-quarters of the night, something more, something less, وَرَتِّلِ الْقُرْآنَ تَرْتِيلًا and recite the Qur’an in a pleasant and beautiful tone, in tarteel.

And Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala said that this is the best thing to understand the Kalam of Allah and to discipline yourself. ourself. So the fazilat of tahajjud is something to be considered. In Surah Al-Sajdah, Allah said, actually praise the people who wake up for tahajjud, and He said, Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala said Allah is mentioning the good people who Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala the mu’mineen and Allah said they are those who stand up get up from their sides in the night and stand before Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala between the fear of his punishment and hope for his reward bayna al khawf wa tama’an and who spend from what Allah has given them wa bimma razaqnahum yunfiqoon and Allah says فَلَا تَعَلَمُوا نَفْسُمْ مَا أُخْفِيَ لَهُمْ مِنْ كُرَّةِ عَيُونَ جَزَاءً بِمَا كَانُوا يَعْوَلُونَ Allah said if they knew what Allah has kept hidden for them of the reward, then this would be a matter of great happiness for them. It would be qurratul ayn, which is the coolness of their eyes. They would be so happy to know what Allah has kept as a reward for them.

So, Alhamdulillah, Tahajjud is something for us, I always say, make it further on yourself. Make sure you pray Tahajjud every single day. Sometimes people with all good intentions, they recommend, they say, pray it at least once in a week, pray at least once in a month. That is the most difficult way of doing it. Because something like this, which is not normal, if you are doing it once in a week then every time you do it it will be difficult because it will never become a habit the way to pray tahajjud is to make it a habit which means pray every day then it becomes easy automatically you get up you don’t even need to set your alarm you will get up automatically because the body clock will get used to waking up at that time so I recommend very strongly make tahajjud far than yourself Tahajjud is nothing, but make it further yourself, meaning make sure that you pray Tahajjud every single day wherever you are, whether you are travelling, whether you are at home, wherever. Because this is the time to get close to Allah . This is the time where Allah said, Allah descends to the first heaven. heaven. Allah descends to the first heaven and Allah announces, has it announced, who is there who seeks my protection. I will give him, let him seek, I will give him protection. Who is there who has any need, let him ask and I will give him. Think about this, we We know the fazilat, we know the benefit and the reward of, for example, the last ten nights of Ramadan al-Kareem, the odd nights, Dayarat al-Qadr, all of this. But these things come once in a year. May Allah grant us these to the last of our days and take us in those days. The beauty of Tahajjud is, Tahajjud is every day. it is everyday everyday the same thing is happening which is Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala descends to the first heaven and Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala announces this so anyone who is serious about anything in his life any Muslim who is serious about anything in his life and he is not praying tahajjud then it means he is not serious just simple as that if you say I really want something and you are not praying tahajjud you are not asking Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala in tahajjud, then it means you don’t really want it. Because if you really wanted it, then how come you are sleeping at the time and Allah says, ask me, I will give you. You are not asking. So, it means you don’t want it. If you don’t want it, no problem. But if you really want it, then get up and ask. Now, the thing to remember is that tahajjud is not a test of your patience or test of your strength.

He said sleep with wudu. So before you go to sleep make wudu. And then about wudu, Nabi said in the hadith in Sahih ibn Hibban, Nabi said, he reported to have said, whoever goes to sleep in a state of purity, which means in a state of wudu, an angel spends the night close to him. Whenever he wakes up, the angel says,

a slave for he slept in a state of purity. So in the night if you wake up, the angel is making this dua. Prophet Muhammad also told us the adhkar, before we go to sleep, you recite ayat al-kursi, you recite the three quls, qul wallahi wa’ad, qul awzul falak, qul awzul minnas, you recite these three times, and then you read tazbeef fatimee, subhanallah, alhamdulillah, allahu 33, 33, 33 times and then and then you blow on your hands and you pass your hands over your whole body three times when you do all of these askar Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala sets angels to protect you throughout the night so when the person is sleeping he is doing all of this then Rasulullah s.a.w. used to before he slept invariably the hadith of Sayyidina Ayesha Siddiqua Radiyallana, she said that Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam always used to pray or recite Surah Al-Sajdah and Surah Al-Mulk, Tawarik al-Ladhi. So this is something also we must make sure we do always before we go to sleep, never go to sleep. Sayyidina Ayesha Siddiqua Radiyallana said Nabi Sallallahu never slept without reciting these two surahs, Surah Al-Sajdah and Surah Al-Mulk. You can do it after Salatul Isha, but ideally do it before you go to sleep. So, this is all preparation to wake up for tahajjud. So, when you are reciting these surahs, obviously shaitan is away from you and you are in a state of protection with Allah . And then, make the intention to wake up for tahajjud. So, make the intention. Abhishek Rasool Allah said in the hadith in Sunan and Nasai, whoever intends to wake for tahajjud and sleeps through it, so you had the intention, You made the intention, Ya Allah, wake me up for tahajjud. But for whatever reason, you slept through until fajr. Then his intention is written for him as a deed. And his sleep is a sadaqah from Islam. So that sleep that you, imagine, Allah SWT has rahmat. You wanted to wake up for tahajjud, you made the intention, but you could not wake up for whatever reason. Allah SWT makes or writes that sleep for you as sadaqah from him. gift from Allah

how beautiful Allah Subh’anaHu Wa Ta-A’la is and if you wake up Alhamdulillah so make the intention don’t just sleep by itself make the intention that you will sleep

and then sleep early that’s another big thing one of the reasons why we don’t wake up is because you sleep so late people sleep at 12 o’clock 1 o’clock if you sleep at 1 o’clock how will you wake up at 3 o’clock which is like two hours of sleep. So, sleep early. Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam disliked staying up after Isha. May Allah have mercy, at least in this country, even our religious programs, they all start after Isha. I mean, after Isha you are supposed to go to sleep. Why do you have a lecture or whatever it is after Isha? Have the lecture, you have the whole day, you don’t have the lecture the whole day, You want to have it after Isha and then it goes on until 2 o’clock, 3 o’clock, 12 o’clock, whatever. I mean, these are things we have to understand. Follow the Sunnah because in the following of the Sunnah, there is Khair. Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam disliked staying up after Isha and this is in Sahih Bukhari.

In another Hadith, Sahih Bukhari, Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam slept at the start of the night and he prayed at the end of the night. So, if you sleep early, you sleep by 10 o’clock, 11 o’clock maximum, then waking up at 3, 3.30, 4 o’clock is not difficult. You can wake up, right? If you sleep after 12, obviously, I mean, you have two hours of sleep, three hours of sleep. So, it is very important to sleep early. May Allah Ta’ala give us the tawfiq. And then make dua to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala to wake you up. Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, Inna du’a wa libaadah. In Surah Al-Tirmidhi, we said du’a is worship, so make du’a. Ya Allah, wake me up. Not your willpower, not your alarm. Set your alarm, obviously, but make du’a to Allah Subh’anaHu Wa Ta-A’la

so that Allah Subh’anaHu Wa Ta-A’la will wake you up.

Because of the hadith that I mentioned before, also in Sahih Bukhari, where Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, Allah calls out in that hour asking who will call on him. him. So wake up and call on him. So therefore, I remind myself and you that the benefit of tahajjud and what we need to do if we want to make sure that we wake up for tahajjud. We ask Allah to make us among those who make tahajjud further on ourselves and who get the benefit of tahajjud throughout our lives inshaAllah. Making dua in tahajjud in sujood, this is also the sunnah. In tahajjud, in sujood, you can make dua in your own language. You need not even make it in Arabic. So by all means do that. That is the best time to make dua and the best position to make dua. Ask Allah to accept all our duas. We ask Allah to give us from His treasures Allah to inspire us to make the duas which he likes to hear and we ask Allah to grant us that.
