Prepare for Dhul Hijjah – #2

Auto-generated transcript:

Alhamdulillahi Rabbil Alameen.
Wa salatu wa salamu ala ashrafil anbiya wal mursaleen.
Muhammadur Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa ala alihi wa sahbihi wa sallam.
Tasliman kathiran kathira.
Fahamma baadu.
Now take the case of another one.
Who asked the same question.
How does Allah give life to the dead?
Same question.
But in a different tone.
And this tone is the one.
Tone of the one who knows.
Allah.
And has a relationship with Allah.
The tone of one who talks to Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala all the time.
And is having another conversation.
It’s a very normal conversation.
And so he asks.
Allah said and remember when Ibrahim said alayhi salam.
My Rabb.
Rabbi.
My Rabb.
Arini kaifatu hilmauta.
Show me how do you give life to the dead.
Now think about this.
Is the question being asked.
So if Allah wants to answer it.
He should have said.
This is how I do it.
Maybe demonstrate it.
Here is something living.
Die.
Come back to life.
Khala.
No.
What is Allah’s response?
Ya Rabb show me how do you give life to the dead.
Allah said.
Avalam tu min.
You don’t believe.
You don’t know.
You don’t believe.
What does it tell you about the relationship.
For the whole world to ask this question.
You ask him this question.
How come you ask this question.
It’s a response of such love and such affection.
And you know.
You my Khaliq.
You.
And see if I’m a response.
He said.
No no no.
Of course I believe Ya Rabb.
But for the.
It’s been out of my.
Kalb.
Allah SWT said.
Rasulullah SAW said.
He said the report.
The information.
Is not like seeing.
So effectively.
I’m saying.
He said.
Of course I believe that.
I mean.
There’s no doubt of my mind.
But if you show me.
Show it.
That is the reason why.
Rasulullah SAW said.
If Ibrahim could ask this question.
We have even greater right.
To ask Allah and say.
Allah show me your khudrat.
But be careful how you ask.
Huh.
That’s why they say.
Be careful what you ask for.
So what does Allah say.
What does Allah say to him.
Allah SWT says.
Get four birds.
He didn’t say.
Get a chicken.
Get a duck.
Get a turkey.
No.
He said.
Get four birds.
Wild birds.
Train them to come to you.
So they are free flying pets.
For him.
Then.
Slaughter them.
Chop them into pieces.
And then.
They will be.
They will be.
They will be.
They will be.
They will be.
They will be.
They will be.
They will be.
Chop them into pieces.
Mix it all up.
And take a portion of that.
And scatter it.
Put it on top of each of these hills.
And we don’t know how many hills.
So one lump of mixed bird.
Khima.
On each hilltop.
Now think about this.
From the tone of this ayah.
It seems to me that Ibrahim A.S. at this time must have been a young boy.
Because if an older person asks this question.
This is not what you would say to them.
This is a project being given to a child.
And you are not going to be able to do it.
You are going to be a child.
You are going to be a child.
You are going to be a child.
You are going to be a child.
You are going to be a child.
You are going to be a child.
You are going to be a child.
Right.
Your little son or daughter says something.
You can give an answer.
You don’t do that.
He says no.
Now go do that.
See how it works.
How does this oak tree grow?
Okay.
Here.
Here is an acorn.
Go plant it.
Now water it.
Look after it.
So on.
So on.
Maybe it takes you.
God knows.
Six months for the answer to come.
But you are working on it yourself.
So it is much more exciting.
Much more interesting.
So Allah says four wild birds.
Now think about it.
What is.
Different bird species nest in different places.
Supposing it is a golden eagle.
On the cranks of hilltops.
Peregrine falcon.
You know.
There are aquatic birds.
There are birds with nests on the ground.
There are birds with nests in tree hollows.
If it is a hornbill it seals its female into the nest with the eggs.
Different species.
Nesting different.
Different species have different gestation.
Not gestation.
The period for the eggs to hatch.
Right?
Incubation period.
So a chicken’s egg takes 21 days.
Robin’s egg takes about seven days.
And so on.
So different times.
Then if you want to tame a wild bird.
You have to take the chick from the nest.
At the exact right time.
If you take the chick too early.
It will die.
Because many birds when they feed the chicks.
They don’t just take an insect or a seed and stuff it down the chick’s throat.
No.
They take it.
They eat it.
They partially digest it in the crop.
And then they regurgitate that digested thing into the bird.
Into the small chick.
Because it can’t digest otherwise.
Obviously you can’t do that.
But you can.
So if you take a chick which is too early.
It will die.
If you wait too long and the chick gets all its feathers.
If it is fully fledged.
It will not become tamed.
So exact right time.
Now think about that.
Who’s telling Ibrahim all this?
This little boy.
Is he an expert on ornithology?
He knows all the bird species.
Where the nest.
Gestation.
I mean the period of hatching of the eggs.
Incubation period.
Does he know?
He’s got no Google to go to search.
And AI or what not.
Right?
So imagine now.
Because there’s one question.
This relationship between Allah and his Khalil.
What level of Wahi must be coming.
And he’s probably having a daily conversation.
Where is the bird?
And he says now go go go.
Climb that mountain.
Right now is the right time.
Go pick that chick from there.
He’s running from this mountain.
Right?
It’s all my imagination.
I’m just saying.
That this is the kind of relationship.
That daily chat becomes like even more intense.
So big project.
And then now he has these four pet birds.
It’s my dream to have a free flying.
I had one in Guyana, Macaw.
But after that I never had.
Absolutely beautiful thing to have the bird come to you and you know sit on your shoulder
or something.
Very nice.
So he’s got these four birds.
Then he has to complete the project.
The project is now you slaughter them.
Chop them up.
Make them crazy.
Put them on the mountain tops.
And then call them.
Allah says they will come to you in haste.
I sometimes wonder you know did the Prophet also see those bird parts coming together?
Because obviously after mixing it all up.
So on hill A is probably the head of bird A. And the intestines of bird B. So he’s got
the head of bird B and the feet of bird C. You know he mixed it all up.
So did he also see these things flying or did Allah do that in a different dimension
so he doesn’t get freaked out?
What did Allah do?
Well Allah right?
Bird comes flying to him.
My brothers and sisters.
Build a connection with Allah.
I remind myself and you.
The people.
The purpose of our existence is to build our relationship with Allah .
To love him.
To spend time with him.
To talk to him.
To marvel at the magnificence.
The intricate detail.
The glory.
The subtlety of his creation.
And the best way to do that is to spend time outdoors.
Not your face in Facebook.
Go out.
Walk in the outdoors.
In parks.
Along lakes.
Rivers.
And observe closely what goes on.
Not just walk for the sake of exercise.
Walk and observe.
I was walking in Barrow Reservoir the other day with Varun and Omar.
He and I go for walks usually.
And we saw a deer standing.
And we were chatting and there was a deer standing.
And then three other deer ran.
And then three other deer ran.
And then three other deer ran.
From the left side of the track.
Across the track to the right side.
And they ran.
So, I stopped him.
He said, what happened?
I said, ask the question.
Why did that deer run from the left of the track to the right?
Because those deer didn’t see us.
We are in this track.
Why did they run?
He said, Sheikh, you’re freaking me out.
I said, no.
You want to be in the forest, you have to learn how to be in a forest.
You want to be in a forest, you have to learn how to be in a forest.
to be in a forest. Something scared them. And whatever scared them, better scare you
as well. That’s how you learn. The company of adults who have knowledge different from
you. Today, tragically, we live in a country where youngsters feel they don’t need elders.
I have had youngsters in this masjid, in the presence of Sheikh Wisam. He’s my witness
for this. A guy representing a group of youths. Not from here, but he’s representing a group
of youths. And he says to Sheikh Wisam and me, we don’t need you guys. We want to have
Halakhaas here and we don’t need you.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
with life experience is willing to share that with you free of cost and you deny it,
then you should get a million dollars for being the biggest idiot on the face of the planet.
Allah SWT created elders for the tarbiyah of the youngsters.
But will you be in a society which denies this completely?
Wake up.
Wake up.
The best way is to go out in the open.
Look at the glory of Allah.
I know I especially love looking at very small wildflowers growing in rainwater drains,
roadside grass verges and unremarkable places.
Very small.
But if you look at that flower closely, you’ve got a nice camera, do some macro photography.
Such detail.
So.
So much of beauty in something which is there, nobody will even notice.
But Allah SWT creates.
Incidental beauty like this has only one purpose,
which is to delight the one who can see the hand of Allah SWT in it.
May Allah make us among them who look at His creation and delight in the glory and magnificence of the creation.
People whose faith is increased and strengthened every time they look around,
and recognize the signs of their Rabb.
And they say,
Rabbana ma khalaqta hadha batilan subhaanaka fa khinaa adhaaban naar.
I ask Allah SWT Jalla Jalaluhu to help us to live a life which is pleasing to Him.
Because in the end, that is the only thing which matters.
I ask Allah SWT to help us to create an environment around us,
which is based on compassion and kindness.
And being good to one another.
And being good to everybody on the face of the earth.
Because everyone is created by Allah SWT.
And it is our responsibility to ensure that from us, they receive only goodness.
I ask Allah SWT to help the people who are suffering under oppression,
especially in Gaza and in Palestine and wherever else the Rohingyas,
now they’re talking about the Rohingya.
They’re talking about the Rohingya.
They’re talking about throwing them into the sea.
The trials and tribulations of this Ummah never cease.
They seem to be going, getting bigger and bigger and bigger.
And we need to ask ourselves, what is the solution?
We know the solution.
The solution is to make istighfar and tawbah.
And if you say, well, you know, people in Gaza are being killed.
What is my istighfar going to help?
If you have a ulcer,
on your foot,
the doctor gives you medicine, which is an injection.
Does he give it in the ulcer?
If he gives you antibiotics and says, take the antibiotics,
what will you do?
Powder them and put them on the ulcer?
You eat them.
You say, what is the antibiotics in my stomach going to do to the ulcer in my foot?
That is the answer.
It is when the aamal of the Ummah are evil and bad,
they will do the same thing.
Allah will show the effect of it somewhere.
And Al-Quds and Gaza has been the place where this is shown.
May Allah protect us from the witness of those people
when we stand before Allah .
If those people say, Ya Rad, they were disobeying you somewhere else,
and we paid the price.
I don’t want to complete this sentence.
May Allah have mercy on them.
May Allah protect them.
May Allah help us to help anyone who is in need,
irrespective of who that one is,
because we are the slaves of Allah and His creatures
sent on the earth for goodness to everyone
that we come into contact with.
