Faith in the and Gentleness of Allah, and the cognizance of Allah.
to have dinner.
And you say, well, your hotel has a bar.
That bar doesn’t affect you
because you are eating dinner in another room.
The bar is in another room.
The fact that there is a bar
doesn’t affect you
as long as you’re not drinking the alcohol.
But in a club,
because you’re not a shareholder of the hotel,
the shareholders of the hotel
will be affected by the bar.
So if you look at a hotel,
there are two kinds of people.
One are people who are shareholders.
Now, they are affected.
If that hotel has a bar,
then they are answerable to Allah.
Now, many people try to find loopholes.
They think they are loopholes.
They are not loopholes.
They are holes taking you into Jahannam.
They say, well, no, no, I’m not.
My hotel has a bar,
but I don’t own the bar.
I have,
I have leased out that space to somebody.
And that person has the bar,
they own the bar,
they run the bar,
and so on.
And you might even say, well, you know,
even the lease amount,
the rental I’m taking from them,
I give it away in charity.
So I do not benefit.
But that’s a lie.
Because if you do not benefit,
why do you have the bar at all?
You have the bar because you do benefit.
And the benefit you have is that you have allowed
Shaytan to fool you and you fooled yourself to say
that unless there is a bar,
nobody will come to my hotel.
And so therefore,
you are effectively running a bar.
You are running a hotel which is based on the bar.
Because you have told yourself that unless I have a bar,
people will not come to the hotel.
So therefore, I need to have a bar to attract customers.
So this bar is that magnet.
It is that bait on the side.
It is that bait on the end of the hook.
And you are the fish on that hook.
Because you fooled yourself to say that
just because the bar is owned by somebody else,
it is halal.
It’s not halal.
It is haram.
It is haram.
Because the hotel, you own the hotel.
But if you go to the hotel as a customer,
as I told you, two kinds of people as far as hotels are concerned,
shareholders and customers, owners and customers.
If you’re an owner, all of this, as I mentioned before,
if you’re a customer, you go to the hotel,
bar, no bar, you don’t care.
You go to the hotel.
You go to the hotel.
You go to the hotel.
You go to the hotel.
You go to the dining place, restaurant.
You have your food.
You go home.
You go to the hotel, the gym.
You go exercise.
You go home.
Alhamdulillah, no problem.
Because this doesn’t affect you.
But instead of that, if you had…
So if you’re not an owner, that’s a different thing.
Now, a club is different.
We’re talking about spending in the path of Allah SWT.
So the spending has to be…
In places, as I mentioned, earning halal, haram and spending,
it doesn’t help you.
The spending has to be wealth, which is halal wealth.
Number one.
Number two, spending has to be in places which are permissible,
which Allah SWT has allowed us to spend it.
So the…
Very important to keep that in mind.
So we earn halal and we spend halal.
Now again,
I don’t want to make a long list of halal places where we can spend.
Whatever is halal is halal.
I mean, I’m sure we know this.
You don’t need a list from me to tell you what is halal.
May Allah SWT grant us the ability to differentiate between right and wrong.
The key thing, the bottom line,
for all of this is very simple.
The bottom line is,
ask yourself only one question.
I ask myself the same question.
Whatever I’m intending to do,
does it please Allah?
And believe me,
this is not a difficult question to answer.
The very simple question to answer.
And Alhamdulillah, most of us today have the knowledge to answer this question without any program.
Does it please Allah?
Whatever I am intending to do,
does it please Allah SWT?
If it pleases Allah, do it.
If you’re sure this pleases Allah,
do it.
Verify it.
Make sure it’s that what you believe is true.
Do it.
If you are sure it does not please Allah, then obviously don’t do it.
And in things where there is a doubt,
and they can be an opportunity,
there can be a number of those.
Do not do it until you are sure.
So make sure that you don’t do it until you are certain.
Now once you are certain,
it pleases Allah, Alhamdulillah, go ahead.
You’re certain it does not please Allah, stay away.
But never indulge in something which is doubtful.
One of the three hadiths,
which are considered to be one third of the deen,
is the hadith of Numan bin Bashir,
who said that, I heard the Holy Prophet saying,
.
He said the halal is clear, and the haram is clear,
and between the two, there are doubts.
There are doubtful matters.
And he said the one who falls into doubtful matters
has actually fallen into haram.
Because the fact that he’s willing to do something
which is doubtful shows that there is no khashat of Allah.
Shows that he doesn’t, he’s not concerned about Allah,
about the pleasure of Allah.
Because if he was concerned about the pleasure of Allah,
why did he go and do something which was doubtful?
Right? He should not have done that.
The fact that he’s doing something or has done something
which is doubtful shows that he has no real concern
for the pleasure of Allah .
So it’s very important to keep this very thing in mind.
There’s another hadith related to this,
which where the narrator is Hasan ibn Ali,
, the grandson of Rasulullah .
And he said that,
I heard from my grandfather,
and that is the Rasul .
He said, I heard from him, and he said,
leave the doubtful for that in which there is no doubt.
See the beautiful, the beautiful, you know, warning,
with so much love.
Leave the doubtful for that in which there is no doubt.
So if there is any doubt in something, leave it.
This is , this is being careful with the orders of Allah,
being careful with our deen.
It’s very, very important to be careful.
Don’t take the deen for granted.
This is a sacred trust that has been given into our hands
by Allah .
This is the difference between Janda and Jahannam.
It’s not money.
It’s not power, authority, beauty, strength,
whether you’re pretty or you’re handsome or not.
It is this, it is this deen,
which will determine whether we will succeed or fail.
So treat that with the importance it deserves.
Treat that with the deference it deserves.
And value that deen.
Because if we didn’t have this deen, believe me,
all the wealth in the world, all the power and authority
in the world would not have saved us from the fire of hellfire,
from the fire of hell.
The deen is what saves us.
And the fundamental position of the deen is
leave that which is doubtful for that which is not doubtful.
Do what Allah likes.
The halal is clear.
It is well known.
It is established.
It’s open.
The halal is like what Allah likes.
It is well known, clear, open.
And between the two are doubtful matters.
And in the doubtful matter, leave the doubtful one
for the one in which there is no doubt.
Make sure you clarify your doubt
so that you live a life of safety before Allah .
I ask Allah to help us to lead a life in which
He is pleased with us
and to help us to live in a way
which does karnish to us when we meet Him .
And may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him and his companions.
May Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him and his companions.
