Muhammad and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him and upon his companions,
Muhammad and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him and upon his companions,
Muhammad and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him and upon his companions,
in the case of cattle at least six months old in the case of sheep or goats at least a year old
now some other things to remember that these are the instructions of rasulullah concerning
the actual act of slaughter it is virtuous for a person man or woman to slaughter the animal
with their own hand but they don’t have to do it they can also delegate that slaughter to
somebody else who can slaughter on their behalf a very important thing the act of slaughter itself
and only is the act of worship so you can’t say well i am vegan or you know i don’t want to
subject some sheep to unnecessary pain and therefore even though i eat you know biryani
and i eat nahr
you
and I eat everything else throughout the year,
all of which has dead sheep in it.
On the day of Khurbani,
on the day of Yawm-ul-Eid,
for the Udiya,
Shaitan puts this in your mind and heart and says,
no, no, no, don’t slaughter the sheep.
Why don’t I just give this in charity?
There are so many people who are deserving.
So I will give the cost of the sheep in charity.
Please understand,
that action would not constitute Khurbani.
It is not a substitute for Khurbani.
As a matter of fact,
it would be an evil intention,
an evil action and a sin
because you are trying to subvert
the deen of Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala
by introducing your own version to it.
So don’t fall into these traps.
Now, therefore,
try to slaughter with your own hand.
If you can’t do that,
if you are not able to do that
because you live in a country where it is not allowed
or you live in a place where it’s not easy
and so on and so forth,
or even if you,
you don’t want to do it
without condemning it
or without saying anything against it,
you can delegate it to somebody else.
One very, very important thing,
slaughter can also be done in other countries.
For example,
you can send money to some other country
and ask your Khurbani to be done there.
But very important to remember
that your Khurbani is a Khurbani.
The slaughter is a slaughter
only if it is done after Salatul Eid.
If it is done before Salatul Eid,
then it’s just a regular slaughter of an animal
for the sake of eating it
and it has nothing to do with the Khurbani.
It is not Udhiyya.
It is something which is,
which is not from the,
you know,
which is not Udhiyya.
It’s a regular slaughter of an animal
for the purpose of eating it.
So make sure that if it is being,
if your sacrifice is happening in some other country,
make sure that you tell them
not to do it until
you have done it.
Make sure that you have confirmed
that you have finished your Salatul Eid
and then you can send them a message
and then they can slaughter the animal on your behalf.
The following things to be remembered.
Number one,
the knife to be used for slaughter
should be very, very sharp
so that it slits the throat immediately
without causing undue pain to the animal.
The knife should not be sharpened
in front of the animals.
You must do it somewhere else.
The animal to be slaughtered
should be given food
and water.
It should not be slaughtered
when it is hungry and thirsty.
It should not be brutally dragged along
to the place of slaughter.
We see all of these things happening.
That is very sad,
must not be done.
The animal should not,
should be slaughtered
in a,
in a isolated place
so that other animals
cannot witness the slaughter.
So don’t slaughter.
If you are slaughtering,
for example,
multiple sheep,
don’t slaughter them,
each one in front of the others.
The animal should be laid on the ground with ease.
Don’t use,
it is abominable
to use undue force.
Don’t throw it on the ground.
Do it gently,
as gently as possible.
Obviously, you have to force it,
but not,
not undue force.
As soon as the animal
has been placed on the ground,
you should hasten
and to slaughter it,
do not delay unduly.
Again,
the whole idea is
not to cause the animal
any more pain
than it,
than is unavoidable.
The animal should not,
be slaughtered with such force
that the head is severed
or the knife reaches the spinal cord.
If the head comes off,
it is haram.
You cannot even eat it.
So,
must never do that.
It’s incorrect to slaughter the animal
above the neck
because it,
meaning,
where the neck starts to meet the body
because
it causes a lot of pain and agony.
The place for slaughter is
just where,
just under the chin
of the animal.
The animal should be left
after slaughtering in such a way
as to freely kick
in its death throes.
After slaughtering,
head should not be cut off,
nor should the animal be skinned
until it is completely,
all movements have been stopped.
Don’t be in a haste
to do that.
Now, while slaughtering,
the dua to be,
or before slaughtering,
the dua to be recited,
inni vajhatu vajhia lillazi
fata sabava,
ala millati ibrahima haneefan
wa ma ana minal mushrikeen
inna salati wa nusuki
wa ma hiyaia wa mamati
lillahi rabbil alameen
la sharika lahu
wa bizalika umirtu
wa ana minal muslimeen
Allahumma minka wa laka
bismillahi allahu akbar
So, the way to do that
is to say
bismillahi allahu akbar
Allahumma minka
wa ilayka
fatakabbal min
and then you say the name of the person.
Fatakabbal min
fulan bin fulan
If it is yourself,
you can say fatakabbal minni
or you can say fatakabbal min
and your name
and your father’s name.
If you are slaughtering the animal
and I recommend if you have the money
and if you are able to do that,
slaughter an animal
in the name of Rasulullah s.a.w.
So, say fatakabbal min
Rasulullah s.a.w.
and this means in the name of Allah
Allahu Akbar
Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala is the greatest
Wallah the sacrifice is
is for you
and it is
accept the sacrifice
from the owner of the
sacrificial animal
that is the dua to be
pronounced.
Now, then
after the sula’a as I mentioned
before,
don’t cut off the head
and don’t do anything
until the animal is completely dead.
Now, alhamdulillah
all of these things
that you can remember
and do,
this is the best thing
inshallah
for the slaughter of the animal.
We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala
to help us
and please understand
Rasulullah s.a.w.
in one hadith,
he said a person
who is capable
who has the money
to slaughter an animal
and does not slaughter
need not pray with us.
Need not pray.
Salatul Eid with us
need not come close to us
for Salatul Eid.
Now, this is very very important
to make sure that we
that we do the slaughter
as a mark of thankfulness
to Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala
for having given us
the ability to do it
and as a mark of
of our honoring
the sacrifice of Ibrahim Ali.
Salam.
We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala
to accept our sacrifice
and to help us to do that
in the way which is the best
which is accepted by him
salawat
Jalla Jalaluhu
and we ask Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala
to send salatul salam
and rasulullah s.a.w.
wa salamu ala nabiyyil kareem
wa ala alihi wa sahbihi ajma’in
bi rahmatika ya rahman rahimeen
walhamdulillahi rabbil alameen
wa salamu alaikum
wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh
kullu amman
tabi khair
and mubarak to all of you.
