Alhamdulillah, alhamdulillah wa kafa wa salamun ala ibadihi allatheena astafa amma ba’d.
My dear respected brothers, elders and sisters, inshallah I’d like to first of all give salam to every single one of you and welcome you here today.
And inshallah today I’ll be speaking about the final few days of the life of the Messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
The exact month in which 1436 years ago the Messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam breathed his last.
In the month of Rabiul Awl.
On the 12th of Rabiul Awl to be precise.
And today inshallah I’m going to just share the narrative of the final moments of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam with you all.
And you might ask yourself,
we don’t really speak about this.
We’ve not heard this.
But there’s a reason behind it.
Why is it that the ummah of the Messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam will re-account the final moments of the Messenger?
Number one, it softens the heart.
Number two, things get very real.
Life becomes real.
That the greatest man to walk the face of this earth,
is death.
And number three,
the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam in a hadith, he says,
When any one of my ummah,
in their lives,
face any challenges,
any difficulties,
let them remember my difficulty.
That will be the greatest difficulty the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam will ever see.
This difficulty will become small,
in light of the difficulties that the Messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam faced.
So it was the 10th year after Hijrah,
that the Messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam,
certain changes began to happen in Madinah Munawwara.
The first change,
Ramadan of the 10th year after Hijrah arrives,
the Rasool sallallahu alayhi wa sallam,
it was his practice that every year in Ramadan,
he would review the Quran that had been revealed on to that point,
with Jibreel Ali sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
However, this year,
in the 10th year after Hijrah,
the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam says,
Inna hu aaradani al-AAam marratain
This year, Jibreel reviews the Quran with me twice.
The month of Ramadan continues.
The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam,
it was his practice to sit the final 10 nights of Ramadan in
I’tikaf in the Masjid.
The 10th year after Hijrah, something happens.
Ramadan is the month of Ramadan.
The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is there,
and the Messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam sits I’tikaf for 20 nights.
After Ramadan, the month after Ramadan, anyone?
Shawwal alhamdulillah.
Shawwal and then?
Dhikaa’dah.
Dhikaa’dah and then?
Bilhijjah.
So Ramadan finishes and the months of Hajj begin.
The Messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam announces to the Arabian Peninsula,
that he is about to perform the Hajj.
The Hajj that today we know as Hajj.
The Hajjatul Wiba.
The farewell Hajj.
The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is going towards Makkah
and a hundred thousand people gather to assist and accompany the Mesliha sallallahu alayhi wa sallam on this final Hajj.
Jabir radiallahu anhi, in a Raeesah Hadith,
he says,
As far madda basari,
as far as my eye could see,
all I saw were men, women, on camels, on foot, on horses.
And I looked towards my right and I see exactly the same.
I looked to my left, exactly the same.
I looked behind us and exactly the same.
As far as my eye could see.
And you know when you read the Seerah,
you will realize a few years prior to this, this was inconceivable.
It could not have happened.
The Messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam on his final Hajj,
again, he’s making subtle remarks.
O my Sahaba, learn your deen from me.
Maybe after this year you will never see me again.
Hajj finishes, the Messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam returns to Madinatul Munawwarah.
And the first month of the eleventh year after Hijrah enters,
the month of?
Now what is this?
Muharram.
It was around this time that the Hadith of Jibreel,
we know the Hadith of Jibreel,
where Jibreel is the one who is the most powerful,
the most powerful,
the most powerful,
Jibreel alayhi salatu wasalam arrives in Madinatul Munawwarah,
and he summarizes our entire deen in one sitting
by questioning the Messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam occurs.
by questioning the Messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam occurs.
It was early this, in the eleventh year after Hijrah.
It was early this, in the eleventh year after Hijrah.
After that we go to the Hadith of Abu Muwayhibah
radiallahu aami.
He says, one night, in the month of Safar,
ba’athani Rasool Allahi fi jaw fin layl.
It was the darkness of the night,
the Rasool of Allah sends for me,
and he said,
O tell, go and tell Abu Muwayhibah that he is the Messenger of Allah.
that he is the Messenger of Allah.
And you know when I read this,
And you know when I read this,
we look at this and we think, SubhanAllah,
the Messenger is calling from
one of his Ummatis in the dead of the night.
What is the response of Abu Muwayhibah?
Labbayka ya Rasool Allah.
I am present.
Today,
our situation,
the Mu’adhin will call
Haya ala Salah in empty beautiful masajid.
Haya ala Salah in empty beautiful masajid.
Haya ala Salah to an Ummah that is completely asleep.
Haya ala Salah to an Ummah that is completely asleep.
The Sahaba were different.
You know when we look, Iqbal says something beautiful.
He says,
He says,
You want the sword of your forefathers?
You want the results of the Sahaba?
You want the results of the Messenger
and you ask,
why is the Ummah in such a state today?
For that you have to create the arm
of your forefathers.
For that you have to have the commitment of your forefathers.
For that you have to have the commitment of your forefathers.
When Allah’s call comes,
when the call of the Messenger comes,
you are there and you are ready to respond.
you are there and you are ready to respond.
You are there.
You are there.
You are there.
So Abu Muwayhibah
didn’t make excuses at that time.
Immediately he goes to the Messenger
immediately he goes to the Messenger
The Prophet says to Abu Muwayhibah,
O Abu Muwayhibah,
I have been instructed
to ask forgiveness for the people of Baqee.
I have been instructed to go to the graveyard of Baqee.
The graveyard of Madinatul Munawwarah
and seek forgiveness for its inhabitants.
and seek forgiveness for its inhabitants.
He says, Abu Muwayhibah says,
we arrive at the graveyard,
the Messenger not only does he give salam
to the people of the graveyard,
he says something.
He says to them,
you are in a better place than those outside.
You are in a better place than those outside.
Atabalatil fitan
Fitan are about to come upon my Ummah.
Fitan are about to come upon my Ummah.
And then he turns to Abu Muwayhibah
And then he turns to Abu Muwayhibah
He says, O Abu Muwayhibah,
Allah has given me an option,
two options.
two options.
that I take the treasures of this world,
that I take the treasures of this world,
I live a long life
and then I go to Jannah.
Or,
I go and meet my Allah
and receive my Jannah.
So Abu Muwayhibah being Abu Muwayhibah,
the Sahaba , Ya Rasulullah, Khul
mafateeha al dunya
wal khulm, thumma al Jannah,
O Mazniya of Allah, choose the treasures of this world
and a long life and then Jannah.
The Prophet says to him,
The Prophet says to him,
Inni qad iftartu liqaa rabbi
I have made my choice, my choice is that I want to meet my Allah.
I have made my choice, my choice is that I want to meet my Allah.
He returns from Baqee, this is the end of Safar.
Aisha says,
Aisha says,
towards the final days of Safar,
the Prophet , the second month of the Islamic calendar,
he goes to
Baqee to perform a Janazah, he comes home
and this was the beginning
of the final sickness of the Messenger of Allah
.
He comes home and Aisha says,
As soon as he enters,
I say, Ya Rasulullah, wa ra’saa
I have a splitting headache.
And she says,
The Messenger of Allah says to me,
Bal ana ya Aisha, wa ra’saa
Aisha, no no,
I have a splitting headache.
And then a conversation takes place
between the husband and wife.
Who will die first?
So the Messenger of Allah
lovingly
and jokingly with his wife,
he says to Aisha,
Aisha, if you die first,
ghassaltuki,
I will perform your ghassal.
Wa kaffantuki, I will shroud you.
And then I will seek forgiveness for you.
And then I will pray your Salatul Janazah.
And then Aisha
in the capacity of a wife,
she says, Ya Rasulullah,
well then once you’ve buried me,
you return to your other wives.
And she says,
The Rasul of Allah, he smiled,
thumma budia fee waj’ihi alladhi maata fee.
And this was the beginning
of the sickness of the Messenger of Allah
in which eventually he breathed
breathed his lahs
on this earth.
So the sickness begins at the end of
Safar.
And we go to five days before
the passing of the Messenger of Allah .
The sickness is intensifying.
The Messenger of Allah
is the Wednesday before his passing.
We’re going to go through these final few days.
The Wednesday before his passing
is the time of Dhuhr.
The Sahaba had to
literally pour buckets of water
over the Messenger
so he can regain consciousness.
Today we have the miracle of medication.
You can regulate the body temperature.
At that time
when you had a fever, you would burn.
You would burn.
You would feel the pain.
The Prophet
says, I went into the house
of the Messenger
I placed
my hand on his forehead
and I said, Ya Rasul Allah
You have an extreme fever.
Ya Rasul Allah, you have an extreme fever.
And he says, the Messenger
said to me, O Abdullah
I have the fever
equal to two of you.
And what it meant at that time, there’s no red
in the body temperature.
There’s no medication, there’s no Tylenol,
there’s nothing that you can take at that time.
So they would tie the turban
tightly around their heads.
And this was the practice of the Arabs.
Why? It would distract you from one pain
by causing your body another
discomfort in your body.
It would distract you from the original pain.
The pain that you were feeling.
The Prophet mentioned that the Prophet
the stones around the stomachs.
What does that even mean?
The pain of hunger would go away
and it would fasten those stones around your stomachs
because the pain of the stone
would take your mind away and distract you from the original pain.
So the time of Dhuhr on Wednesday
the Messenger is in and out of consciousness.
Eventually
Fadhal ibn Abbas, Ali ibn Abi Talib
they assist the Messenger
and he holds onto their shoulders
and he walks into the Masjid.
And the Sahaba say
his feet were dragging on the earth.
This was the commitment
of the Rasool
The importance of Salah.
A Salah that we’ll abandon very easily.
A Salah that we’ll just turn away from.
The Messenger in his final moments
in this state
is holding and assisting his Sahaba
or assisting him to take him to the Masjid.
One of my teachers would say
if your legs cannot carry you
to the Masjid, don’t expect them
to carry you to Jannah.
Jannah is a far journey.
Jannah is a journey which is
strenuous, it’s uphill, it’s a hike.
You’re going to have to be committed.
Whether you like it or not
you’re going to have to move.
Because that’s the deal.
That’s the deal the Quran gives.
The Quran gives no other deal.
Whatever we give you
you spend it for us
only then you will get Jannah.
The Messenger arrives in the Masjid
and he sits on the Masjid.
He sits on the Masjid
and he gives some advice to the Ummah.
We don’t have the time to go into those advices
but InshaAllah I’ll mention a few.
Then the Messenger leads Dhuhr.
It’s Wednesday.
He leads Dhuhr.
After Salatul Dhuhr he sits on the Masjid again.
And he makes an announcement.
He says
Man kuntu jaladtu lahu dhahran
fahadha dhahri falyastaqid minnu
Wa man kuntu shatamtu lahu irdan
fahadha irdi falyastaqid minnu
He says
Wa man kuntu akhattu lahu maalan
fahadha maali falyastaqid minna
Translating these statements
that the Messenger
Maasum anil khaata
The Messenger Muhammad
making this announcement
amongst his Sahaba.
Can we even fathom what the Sahaba felt
on hearing this announcement?
The announcement was
Oh my Sahaba, whomsoever I have heard with my tongue
My honour is here
Take retribution right now
Whomsoever I have caused any physical pain to
I am here
Take your retribution right now
And whomsoever I have taken some wealth from
My wealth is here
Take your retribution now
My wealth is here
Take your retribution now
The Sahaba was silent.
He says it three times.
Finally a man stands up and says
One day we were walking
And we saw someone who was in need
And you didn’t have money on you at the time
And you told me to give three dinars
You owe me three dinars
The Prophet says to Fadhal ibn Abbas
Oh Fadhal ibn Abbas
Go and repay him for his three dinars
Then the Prophet says
Abdu khayrahullahu ta’ala
Is a servant of Allah
Allah gives him a choice between the world
and the Akhira. He chooses the Akhira
The Sahaba didn’t understand.
Abu Bakr is sitting there
He begins to cry
Ya Rasulullah may our mothers and our fathers be sacrificed for you
Immediately the Messenger
He says seal all the doors of the masjid
Except the door of Abu Bakr
That leads into the masjid
And he returns
So this was Wednesday
First day begins
Again the Messenger is in and out of consciousness
He leads Salatul Fajr
He leads Salatul Zuhar
He leads Salatul Asr
He leads Salatul Maghrib to the point that we know exactly
Which Surah he recited in Salatul Maghrib
On that first day
Wal mursalati arfa
Wal aasifati aasfa
That was the Surah of choice of the Messenger
Salallahu alaihi wa sallam
Isha time arrives
The Messenger is in and out of consciousness
The Messenger is in and out of consciousness
They pour buckets of water over him
For him to regain consciousness
Every single time
Your Messenger and my Messenger
Regains consciousness
He has one concern
Allah, your Messenger
Is a that lies near where personas are
3 23
4
4
5
6
7
10
And out of consciousness
Could you imagine
The Friday in Medina Munawwara
In the presence of the Messenger of Allah
Where the Messenger of Allah
Does not ascend his own pulpit
Then Saturday begins
On Saturday
The Messenger of Allah
Sallallahu alayhi wasallam
He comes out for Salatul Dhuhr
And the Sahaba is started
The Messenger of Allah is here
Abu Bakr is leading the Sahaba in prayer
At that moment
The Messenger of Allah stands next to Abu Bakr
And the Muhaddithin mention
No sorry the Sahaba mention
That the Messenger of Allah leads Abu Bakr
And Abu Bakr led us
This was the formal handover to Abu Bakr
This was the handover to Abu Bakr
That Abu Bakr is the one from my Ummah
Who will lead the Ummah
After that the Messenger of Allah
Sallallahu alayhi wasallam
Goes back to his house
He doesn’t come back out of his house
After that
Saturday passes
And he says to Aisha
Oh Aisha
What do I have in my possession
Ya Rasulullah you have some slaves
You have some armor
And you have seven dinar
Give it all in the path of Allah
Aisha radiallahu anha says
The seven dinars is actually a story about it
He regains consciousness
And he keeps on asking what’s left
And he says
Ya Rasulullah I forgot to give the seven dinars
Aisha give the seven dinars
On that Saturday of Rabiul Awal
The Messenger of Allah
Sallallahu alayhi wasallam
He tells the Prophet
He tells his wife
Give those seven dinars
I’ve told you
She gives the seven dinars
Now you have a Messenger
Who has absolutely nothing of this material world
On the Saturday of Rabiul Awal
Nothing at all
What he gave was everything
Because what he was here to give
Was not wealth
Was not the dinar neer
It was the ilm
What is the warafa of Rasulullah
What is the inheritance of Rasulullah
You want the inheritance of Rasulullah
You attack yourself to the sunnah
And the knowledge that you have to give to the Prophet
Is the knowledge that the Messenger
Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam
It is the people of knowledge
Who take from the inheritance of Rasulullah
Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam
Sunday passes in the same manner
You have a Messenger who has nothing of the dunn
Aisha radiallahu anha
She says
On that day
I had to go and borrow some oil
To light the lamp in the room of the Messenger
Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam
Monday
The 12th of Rabiul Awal
At the time of Fajr
The Messenger of Allah
Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam
He removes the curtain of his house
And he looks out and he sees the Sahaba
R.A. pray Salatul Fajr
Rasulullah smiles
What was the smile?
That the mission had been accomplished
Here you have a group of people
Who not only embraced his message
They learnt his message
They practiced his message
And they were ready to convey the message
To the four corners of the world
And that’s why me and you are sitting here today
The commitment of those early Sahaba
And that’s why I can relate to you
The subtle details of the final moments
Of Rasulullah S.A.W
Every detail of the message of Allah
Preserved
Because you had those communities
Who took it as a concern
An obligation that this is something
That we have to convey
To the point when you look at the Shama’il
You will be able to imagine
Exactly what the message of Allah looked like
And I promise you
Read the books of Shama’il
Read the books of Shama’il
If we look at the description
That Ummi Ma’bad R.A. gives of the messenger
This elderly lady
This Bedouin lady
Who has subhanAllah balagha
Fasaha
She’s articulate
She describes the messenger S.A.W
And very quickly I want to describe him
Just so you understand
The effort these people made
In conveying and passing this messenger
S.A.W’s entire life unto us
She says
I saw a man
He was in a good condition
He was a good person
He had a good face
He didn’t have a bad face
He was a good person
He wasn’t suspicious
He wasn’t arrogant
Theigkeiten
The
Debting
The
Bad
The
Good
The
The
The
The description of the nasli of Allah.
She sees him for a few moments and she describes him to her husband.
She says, I saw a man,
Of extreme magnificence and a bright face.
Every body part of his ﷺ in complete perfection.
Symmetrical.
His face had a natural shine to it.
He was beautiful.
Proportionally created.
As Hassan says.
Now, the nasli of Allah is that, boy, you created,
you chose the way,
you wanted to be created.
That is the messenger of Allah ﷺ.
He didn’t, his belly was not protruding
and nor was his head
or disproportionately small to the rest of his body.
He had a beautiful large head ﷺ.
Extremely beautiful.
And then she continues to describe the messenger ﷺ.
She says the messenger of Allah ﷺ.
His eyelashes were beautiful and long.
The black in his eye was extremely black.
The white in his eye was extremely white.
His neck was beautiful and long.
It wasn’t a short neck.
It was a beautiful long neck.
His beard was extremely dense.
His voice had a natural echo.
The Shaykh mentioned that conveying the message,
the Prophet ﷺ, when you look at the books of Hadith,
and you look at the books of Tariq and Seerah,
you will find on that final day,
when he gives the khutbah of the Hajjah tul Wida,
in those final moments,
there was no need for a microphone.
His voice had a natural echo to it.
To the point where Jabir says,
we were sitting in our tents,
a hundred thousand people,
and we could hear every word he said clearly ﷺ.
His eyes were like that of a khur.
Blood, beautiful eyes.
It was as though he was saying,
as though he had applied,
His eyebrows were naturally curved.
It seemed as though they joined,
but they didn’t join.
There was a,
As one Hadith mentions,
between the gap between the eyebrows,
the Rasul ﷺ had a vein.
When he became angry,
it would pulsate ﷺ.
And then she says about his speech,
When I saw him,
when he was silent,
When he was silent,
there was a magnificence around him.
When he spoke,
he became eminent ﷺ.
And an aura of magnificence enveloped him ﷺ.
He was of average height.
Between 6’3″,
the Muhaddithim
and those people of Seerah will mention,
approximately 6’3 in height.
Four arms length.
He’s from those who are of six arms length.
That was about,
if you work out,
it’s about seven foot.
But the Sahaba say that
the Rasul ﷺ,
when he would walk with Umar,
he would appear taller than Umar
No one would look bigger than the Messenger ﷺ.
No one would look grander than the Messenger ﷺ.
She says he was of an average height,
6’3″,
and you didn’t have to look down at him.
Nor did you have to look up at him strenuously.
Strenuously,
to get a gaze of his face.
He was perfection.
He had companions.
Whenever he said something,
they listened attentively.
And whenever he instructed something,
immediately they went and fulfilled it.
And the point being,
all of this was preserved
through those Sahaba رضي الله عنهم
and conveyed to us for a purpose.
The purpose is very simple.
Connect yourself with the life of Muhammad ﷺ.
It’s Monday morning,
the Messenger of Allah returns.
He walks,
he sees the Sahaba,
he comes back to his house,
and in the house,
the Messenger of Allah,
the final moment he spent,
the final moments of Monday morning,
the 12th ربيع الأول,
he spends,
and he calls for his different family members.
He speaks to his wife,
he speaks to his daughters,
he speaks to other individuals,
Hassan, Husayn, and Ali,
and so on and so forth.
And then the Aisha رضي الله عنها says,
the final moments of the greatest Messenger of all,
the greatest man to walk the face of the earth.
He’s in my lap.
and he whispers something in her ear,
and she begins to cry.
Then he whispers something again,
and she begins to smile.
She says,
later when I inquired from Fatima bint Muhammad
that, oh Fatima,
what did the Messenger say to you?
She said,
he said,
this is the last day of mine on earth.
And she said,
what about when you started laughing?
She says,
he said to me,
you will be the first of my family members to meet me.
And she lived for six months only,
after the passing of the Messenger
then he’s sitting,
the Rasul صلى الله عليه وسلم’s head is in my lap,
and, oh,
Rahman ibn Abu Bakr enters.
He was the brother of Aisha.
And he’s doing the Siwak.
And the Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم follows,
his eyes follow Abdur Rahman ibn Abu Bakr.
She says,
immediately I knew,
he wants the Siwak.
Sunnah till the end, right?
Ajab till the end.
Ibadah till the end.
She said,
immediately I said,
Ya Rasulullah,
you want the Siwak?
He said,
yes.
She said,
I softened it with my mouth,
and then I wiped it on the blessed teeth of the Messenger
And at that point,
she says,
he says,
Truly,
death has great difficulties.
Whose death are we talking about?
The greatest man to walk the face of this earth.
The beloved of Allah.
And then she says,
he raises his hand.
Oh Allah,
forgive me.
Oh Allah,
have mercy upon me.
Oh Allah,
grant me your companionship.
She says,
he mentions this three times.
The hand of the Messenger
And I feel his blessed head getting heavy in my lap.
And at that point,
I know he is no more.
He is the most of Allah.
She goes,
I inform the Sahaba.
Umar
There’s an outbreak.
They lived for the Messenger.
We talk about dying for the Messenger.
They lived for the Messenger.
Life was only sweet
because they were in the presence of Muhammad
It was for that reason,
Bilal, when he stands to give the adhan,
he can’t give the adhan.
He walks the streets of Medina,
he can’t walk those streets.
He leaves Medina to Munawwarah.
I can’t live in a city where Muhammad is not there
How can we live lives where there is no Muhammad in our lives?
Umar رضي الله عنه makes an announcement.
Whomsoever says that Muhammad has died,
I will deal with.
Abu Bakr comes.
Remember the foreman handover.
He comes into the room of the Messenger
He removes the cloth.
He looks at the face of the Messenger
and he says,
You are beautiful in life
and you are beautiful in death.
Covers his face.
He goes out and he says,
Umar, sit down.
Umar doesn’t sit down.
Umar continues to shout.
Umar is angry.
Umar is upset.
He signed up and he says,
Whomsoever worshiped Muhammad,
he has died.
Whomsoever worshiped Allah,
remember Allah is all living.
And then he recited the verse,
Muhammad is a messenger.
If he is to die,
are you going to turn on your heels?
The Sahaba say,
it was as though this was the first time
we ever heard these verses.
And the entire Medina began to recite these verses.
One Sahabi Abdullah ibn Zaid radiallahu anhu,
for him, like I said,
the Sahaba was so attached to the Messenger.
He knows everything for them.
Immediately he makes a dua.
O Allah, this eyesight I have,
I don’t need it any longer.
Remove my eyesight.
So that after this day,
I don’t have to see anyone other than the Messenger.
I’ve seen the Messenger and that is sufficient.
This was the love of the Sahaba.
But this love didn’t come overnight.
This time,
The one who spent time with the Messenger,
fell in love with the Messenger.
The one who learned about the Messenger,
fell in love with the Messenger.
Just in January,
and I finish on this point.
In January, we went on Umrah.
We took a group of young people.
And one mother came to me later.
She says,
Shaykh, can you speak to my son?
Because in January,
he had holidays from the university.
And I said to him,
I want to send you on Umrah.
I’m going to book your trip.
And his response was,
I don’t want to go.
And she was surprised.
My son refuses to go to visit Medina on Umrah.
Not from his own money,
from my money.
My son is refusing to go on Umrah
in his holidays.
What do you expect
when you have introduced Muhammad to those people?
SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam
When you have abandoned
and you have,
abandoned them from the teachings
of Muhammad SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam.
You haven’t taught them who Muhammad is.
Who he was SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam.
The Sahaba RadhiAllahu Anhum say,
We would teach our children
the days,
the lives,
the battles of Rasulullah indeed.
O our children,
this was our messenger.
This was the Habib of Allah.
This was Rasulullah.
And only then,
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala
will open our hearts
and attach us.
May Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala
grant us the love of the messenger
SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam.
May he make us amongst those
who the Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam
intercedes for on the day of reckoning.
May Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala
grant us love of his sunnah.
May he give us a life of sunnah.
And that’s the important thing,
my dear brother,
that the only thing we have
in these dark times,
Anas Ibn Malik,
when he says about the death of Rasulullah,
he says,
the day that Rasul SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam
came to Medina,
everything was enlightened.
And the day he died,
there was an extreme darkness in Medina.
And today I ask you and me,
and every single question here,
that was the darkness the Sahaba felt.
What darkness are we living?
We’re on the ground,
on the ground.
There’s no darkness.
There’s no light.
It’s complete darkness.
The small cracks that you maybe see
some light from
is the sunnah of the Rasul SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam.
Take from that light.
Otherwise, it’s going to be a life of darkness.
May Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala
grant us the light,
the love of Rasulullah SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam,
the love of his sunnah.
And may Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala
give that love
and help us
transform
and transmit that love to our children.
