Suppose somebody says I am a Sikh. So what do you believe? Say I am a Hindu, what do you believe? I am a Christian, what do you believe? I am a Muslim, what do you believe? He won’t say what do you do? Right? We do anything. That doesn’t define the religion. Because what you do is across religions. A Sikh or a Muslim or a Hindu or a Jew or a Christian or an atheist can all do good or evil. It’s not restricted to one religion. It’s not restricted to one religion or one set of beliefs. Right? There are people who can do good actions or bad actions. No matter what their beliefs. So that doesn’t define that specific thing. The definition is what do you believe?
So as Muslims, what do we believe? This is very important for us to be very clear in our minds and not allow this to be changed in any way by whatever else happens around us. Because the questions of the khabar, the questions of the grave are questions of what do you believe? Questions of the aqidah. Man rabbuk, who is your Rabb? Right? The malaika are not asking you who is Rabbul Alameen. They know who is Rabbul Alameen. They say who is your Rabb? Who did you worship?
Did you worship Allahﷻ? Did you worship Rabbul Alameen or something else? That is the question. What is the connection between you and Allahﷻ? Is there a connection or not? Umar ad-Dinuq. What is your religion? What did you follow? Right? They’re not asking what is Islam? Define Islam. No. What is your religion? What do you say about the man who was sent among you? Rasool Allahﷺ. They’re not saying who sent among you. No. They know who sent. What is your connection with that?
Right? So, very important for us to be absolutely clear in our minds about these things. So, I thought let me do. In the course of today and few other few more days, InshaAllah. I said series on this. Good for us to refresh ourselves. So, what is our belief about Allahﷻ?
Sometimes you ask Muslims, what do you believe? They say we believe in one God. Wrong answer. We do not believe in one God. We believe in Allahﷻ. Not one God. Not some random God. Whether it is one or twenty, it doesn’t matter. We believe in Allahﷻ.
If somebody says who owns this car? It is one man. What do you want to own? There is an owner. The owner has a name. The owner has an identity. So, Allahﷻ has a name. Allahﷻ has an identity. That is my belief. We believe that Allahﷻ huwal ahad not wahid ahad because in the Arabic language wahid one can be half can be two so it can be you know but ahad has no plural has no half ahad is alone. Say Allah is ahad not wahid no ahad. Allah is Allahﷻ SWT is huwal ahad he is pure he needs nothing everything needs him he is.
Allahﷻ SWT said there is nothing like him it’s a very important part of our raqida there is nothing in creation which is like Allahﷻ SWT in any way nothing resembles Allahﷻ SWT in any way anyone who resembles anything to Allahﷻ anyone who compares anything to Allahﷻ has nothing like him has left Islam no matter who it is anyone who takes the qualities the attributes of Allahﷻ and ascribes them to anyone other than Allahﷻ whether the one they ascribe these as attributes to whether it is a malak whether it is an angel or whether it is a celestial body the sun or the moon or something like that or the stars or whether it is a human being whether it is the prophet whether it is Isa AS I’m mentioning this because this is the usual people we do shirk with whether it is Sayyidina Ali somebody says ya Ali madad shirk open shirk ya ghaus madad open shirk Jesus saved me open shirk most welcome whoever wants to say that please go ahead be my guest that is not Islam that’s all I am saying that is not Islam.
You have if you were a Muslim and you said this you have exited Islam make stuff for Tawbah recite the Kalima come back into Islam. Right so please understand this these are not simple things please understand how does a person become Muslim somebody who was not a Muslim right for a hundred years maybe he decides Allah gives me Tawfiq I want to become Islam what does he do what does he need to do recite the Shahadah right Ashadu an la ilaha illallah wa ashadu anna Muhammadun Rasulullah he must believe that in his heart and then he must say this that’s it just saying one word takes the person from Jahannam and puts him into Jannah one word is the difference between Jannah and Jahannam the words are very important words are not simply something you go chak no that’s why talking too much is a evil the more you talk the more chances of you talking nonsense or making some mistake or talking some rubbish no best thing is keep quiet make some noise make zikr of Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala you can’t go wrong with that.
Make zikr of Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala what you have to say if there is something worthwhile useful some you know related something with some useful thing say it if you don’t have that say nothing don’t give opinions somebody say what is your opinion about Iran what is my opinion about Iran God do with anything am I the king of the world what do you think about President Trump what difference does it make what I think about President Trump don’t do that do not give any opinions there is no need you are not so important that your opinion has any worth it has no worth anyone who thinks that his opinion has any value is a fool and I will give you proof of that your opinion whatever it is does it change anything does it change anything on the ground no so what’s it worth nothing don’t waste your time do not waste your time in all of this make zikr of Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala alhamdulillah make zikr of Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala no opinions no tafsirah make zikr of Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala.
And be very clear we ask help from no one other than Allah no one other than Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala can give anything no one can take anything what Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala has written is written nobody can take anything change that except Allah and that is Tawheed I am being very short each of these is a topic by itself but just to make sure we cover it and Tawheed.
Tawheed the unity of the names and attributes of Allah not to ascribe those to other than Allah illallah the first foundational step of that is that all the names of Allah must be preceded by Abd Abdur Rahman Abdul Aziz Abdul Razzaq Abdul Khaliq Abdul Hafiz very important very important because this is the adab of Allah Subhanahu Ta’ala and so also the attributes whatever Allah Subhanahu Ta’ala does is only done by Allah Subhanahu Ta’ala this Tawheed is very important for us to keep in mind I remind myself and you we need to keep on reinforcing this in our hearts over and over again and we ask Allah Subhanahu Ta’ala to keep us on Tawheed and to take us in a state of Tawheed because this is the differentiator this is the single most important fundamental foundational differentiator between Jahannam and Jannah we ask Allah Subhanahu Ta’ala to forgive us we ask Allah Subhanahu Ta’ala to correct our Aqidah we ask Allah Subhanahu Ta’ala to keep us on the Aqidah of Tawheed and to take us in that state and we ask Allah to keep us on the Aqidah.
