Why are duas not accepted? – #3

Auto-generated transcript:

My brothers and sisters,
listen to this.
We continue with the list of the checklist that Ibrahim A.A. gave to the people of Basra
when they asked him why their dua is not accepted.
And we are on the sixth of the ten reasons that he gave.
And he, in the sixth reason, he said,
you say that you fear Jahannam.
You say that you fear the Hellfire, you fear Jahannam.
But you do not flee from it.
You do not run away from it.
Now, one of the things that happened in Islam,
and there’s a whole history behind it which I won’t go into now,
is this false belief that there is no need to fear Allah.
The fear of Allah is not like the fear of anything else.
Because when a person fears something, they seek to run away from it, escape from it.
You can’t run away from Allah for any reason in any way.
The fear of Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala is the fear of offending.
The fear to offend, the fear to disobey, the fear to displease the one we love the most.
This is at the highest level.
Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala said,
وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَشَدُّوا فَلِلَّهِ
Very the believers are those who love Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala more than anyone or anything else.
And therefore, at the highest level,
the muddaki is the one who fears to offend the one he loves the most, and that is Allah.
But however, there is also,
Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala described himself and described his punishments.
In Allah,
Allah said,
وَشَدِدُوا لِخَابٍ
Who was Ali ul-Adhar?
So there is no running away from that.
And therefore, it’s also the fear of disobeying the one who has the power to inflict severe punishment if he wishes.
And we ask Allah to protect us from that.
Now there are two main reasons why Muslims disobey.
And this is a very important thing because you’re not talking about here,
what people,
who don’t believe in Allah at all.
That’s a different issue.
Alhamdulillah, we believe in Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala.
We don’t deny Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala.
We are not falling into kufr.
But we disobey.
And that is two reasons.
One, we have become and made ourselves the slaves of our desires.
Instead of being Ibadullah,
we are Ibadul Hawa.
We are the slaves of our desires.
Number one.
And number two,
may Allah protect us from ourselves.
إِلَّا مَشَاءَ اللَّهُ
Except those who Allah has mercy on,
we lack faith in the Akhil.
We do not have yakin in the Akhil.
We believe in it at an intellectual level.
But we do not have yakin in the Akhil.
We believe in the Akhil.
But we do not have yakin in the Akhil.
But we do not have yakin in the Akhil.
Now that borders on disbelief.
I remind myself,
I knew that the biggest strength of the Sahaba,
Ridwar and the Alayhi Majma’in,
was that they took the word of Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala literally.
If Allah said something in a certain way,
that is how they understood it.
And that is how they treated it.
That is how they responded to it.
That is why, for example,
we are so many people,
we are so many instances of the Sahaba asking,
Ya Rasulullah, are there dates in Jannah?
What is the size of that fruit in Jannah?
Literally.
They are not saying,
Oh, Jannah is, you know, it’s a good thought.
There is a share that comes to mind which I won’t interrupt.
The only other person here who understands Urdu poetry is sitting here and telling,
He and I share these things.
He and I share these things.
He and I share these things.
And he is piling because he knows the share.
But I won’t talk about that here.
But the point I’m saying is,
Jannah is not a nice concept.
It is real.
The Sahaba took it as real.
When Rasulullah said,
He said,
In Jannah, some of you will have palaces which float in the air.
The question they asked him was,
Ya Rasulullah, how will we enter that palace?
Think about this.
They didn’t say,
How will it float in the air?
How can the palace float in the air?
They didn’t ask that question.
He is saying,
The palace floats in the air.
We accept that.
We believe that.
That’s not the question.
The question is,
Okay, now if it’s for me,
How do I get in there?
Literal belief.
Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said,
You will enter it like a bird enters its nest by flying.
Now this reality of belief enabled them to work for Jannah.
That is why we have,
For example, the story of Abu Dahad al-Ansar Ghazal Anu,
Which I have mentioned to you many times before,
So I won’t say it now.
But a man who goes and gives his entire dead garden,
Plus house, plus well, plus the works,
Away for one tree in Jannah.
Rasulullah said,
One tree in Jannah.
Right?
He’s giving up something concrete.
He had the most valuable piece of realistic,
Real estate in Madinah at the time.
He gave it away.
Sold it for one single tree in Jannah.
It’s a beautiful story.
I’ve said it many times before.
Those of you who haven’t heard it,
Come for the Isha Khatera,
For the Maghrib Khatera.
Ask me, I’ll tell you.
Question is,
How does a person do that?
He made himself homeless.
One decision.
He made his whole family homeless.
That was their home.
They lived there.
They gave it away.
How did they do that?
Not only that,
When he goes and informs his wife,
I’ve just made you homeless.
I’ve just sold all of this,
To Rasulullah .
She said,
For how much?
He says,
For one tree in Jannah.
She didn’t say,
You’re insane.
You’re crazy.
What kind of,
What deal is that?
One tree in Jannah?
No.
No.
She said,
SubhanAllah,
What a bargain.
She said,
Alhamdulillah,
What a bargain.
Wow,
What a bargain.
She’s telling her husband,
You are the most wisest person.
You are the best person on earth.
You made this beautiful bargain.
Right?
Seriously,
Sometimes I read these stories,
Wallahi,
These are true stories.
I have to remind myself,
Pinch myself and say,
Is it real?
Am I reading some fairy tales?
They were people like this?
They actually were people like this?
When there are people like me today?
Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala
Reveals Quran and says,
The one who deals in interest,
Accepted declaration of war,
From Allah and his Rasool.
Quran.
Alhamdulillah,
If it’s a Hadith,
We accept all the Sahih Hadiths of Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
There’s no,
I’m not trying to,
But I’m saying this is Quran.
There is nothing in Islam,
Which is beyond and above,
The ayah of Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala’s Kalam.
Allah declares,
And Allah did not say,
It is okay for the first house in America.
It’s okay for a student loan.
It is okay if you don’t have a car,
You need a car,
Go buy.
No.
No.
But we do all of this.
First house, second house,
I like a house, I don’t like a house,
I do this, I do that.
I borrow an interest.
I know people who borrow an interest to buy television sets.
For God’s sake.
How?
How?
Because,
It is not real.
It is not real.
The same ayat of the Quran,
Which is prohibiting,
Imagine,
You know,
In Urdu we say,
If you want to fight,
Fight with your own people.
They don’t even want to fight with Allah.
You want to fight,
Go fight somebody your size man.
You want to fight with Allah?
Declaration of war.
What do you call,
The two parties in a wall?
Friends?
Or enemies?
So if I’m accepting a declaration of war from Allah,
What does it make me with regard to Allah?
Friend or enemy?
Wali of Allah,
Or Adoo Allah?
Think about this.
By definition,
The moment you said,
La ilaha illallah Muhammadur Rasulullah,
You became a Wali of Allah.
Not my fatwa.
Allah mentioned this in the Quran.
Allah said,
Alladhina amanu wa kaanu yattaqun.
Ala inna awliya’Allahi la khawfun alayhim walahum yahzanun.
Truly,
For the awliya of Allah,
For the Wali of Allah,
For the one who,
There is no direct translation of the word Wali in English,
So people use the word friend,
But please understand,
There is no friendship between Allah and the makhluk.
Allah is Khaliq,
We are makhluk.
But in that extent,
With His glory and majesty in mind,
The Wali of Allah is the one that Allah loves,
The favorite slave of Allah.
So Allah says,
Ala inna awliya’Allahi la khawfun alayhim walahum yahzanun.
I will not go into the grammar of,
Why Allah and then why inna after that and so on.
That is a different thing.
But the Wali of Allah,
Ina after that and so on.
That is a different issue.
It just emphasizes and reemphasizes this point.
Allah said for them there is no khawf and there is no fear.
La khawfun alayhim walahum yahzanun.
And there is no sadness.
Fear with respect to the future,
Sadness with respect to the past.
Allah said for the Wali of Allah,
Nothing.
Then who are they?
This is the beauty of the Quran.
Allah does not leave anything in doubt.
Thalika al-kitabu al-arayba fee.
It is a kitab.
It is a book in which there is no doubt.
For hidaa for whom?
Hudal lil muttaqeen.
For the one who has the love of Allah,
For the khashiat of Allah,
The fear of Allah in his heart.
For him there is hidaa.
So who are the Waliya?
Alladheena amanu wa kaanu yattaquna.
Allah said the one who said,
La ilaha illa Allah.
The one who has iman and the one who has taqwa.
What is taqwa?
Taqwa is the concern that I must not displease Allah.
Iman is having faith in Allah.
Now Allah in his mercy,
He did not say iman and taqwa equal to that of the Rasool
or equal to that of the Khulafa Rashideen
or equal to that of this one or that.
No, Allah said who has iman,
who has taqwa,
May Allah include all of us who are here in this masjid
and all our families and all those who are not here
and all the Muslims among them.
All of them default setting Wali of Allah.
Even if you have an atom’s worth of iman
and atom’s worth of taqwa,
InshaAllah you are Wali of Allah.
Right?
What does that mean?
It means that no matter whatever you do and don’t do
as long as you’re not committing kufr and shirk and so forth.
When you go before Allah there is some hope.
You say, Ya Allah please forgive me.
I am your Wali.
You told me I have a little bit of iman.
What to do?
I only had this much.
Ya Allah forgive me.
There is hope for that.
Right?
Now you take this out
and you got some advisor
and you got God knows who that shaitan in human form
because anyone who is advising you to break the law of Allah
is a shaitan in human form.
Simple as that.
Shayateen ul eens wal jin is also in the Quran.
This person gives you an advice.
He says, go borrow money on interest.
You get a house to start a business,
to grow your business,
to travel here, to do that, to do that.
Whatever the reason.
And he gives you some justification from it,
from his head because there is no justification in the Quran.
The Quran is very clear, categorical.
Allah said,
Allah said,
Allah said,
Allah said,
Allah said,
Allah said,
Allah said,
Allahли اص sättuser possível.
nutzen شgrade豪ة.
Yes this is the truth.
Is Après lays
Do not come and good you enter nei
Damn is what God has時間
단 ميرہ
Or the
Musa
is mixed with representation.
You play, you say,
Surah Al-Fatihah.
Allah said which means, and these are the ayat of Surah Al-Baqarah from 275 to 279.
Allah said, those who consume interest.
And please notice Allah is not saying interest for this, that, interest.
Any interest-based dealing.
Allah said, those who consume interest will stand on…
…judgment day like those driven to madness by shaitan’s touch.
That is because they say, trade is no different than interest.
But Allah has permitted trade and forbidden interest.
Whoever refrains after having received warning from their Rabb…
…may keep their previous gains and their case is left to Allah.
As for those who persist, it is they who will be the residents of the fire.
Jahannam.
They will be there forever.
Allah has made interest fruitless and charity fruitful.
And Allah does not like any ungrateful evildoer.
O believers, fear Allah and give up outstanding interest if you are true believers.
If you do not, then beware of a war with Allah and His Messenger.
But if you repent, you may retain your principle.
Do no wrong.
And you will not be…
…strung.
And you fall into that trap.
Now what happens?
What happens is, when the moment you fall into that trap, the minute you sign that…
…that whatever agreement that is, your name which was in the list of the awliya of Allah…
…will move into the list of the enemies of Allah.
Aadahullah.
Because you accepted a declaration of war from Allah and His Nabi .
Right?
Does that make sense?
Does that make sense?
That is why I am saying our problem is…
…slaves of desires and lack of faith in the Akhirah.
Why am I getting a load?
Slave of desire.
Slave of desire.
Whatever the desire is.
And why am I getting a load despite knowing that Allah declares war on me?
Because I need it.
Because I really don’t believe that.
That is the hard and harsh reality.
Whether anyone wants to accept it or not, that is the fact.
You tell me, you interpret this for me, how does it work?
When there is a declaration…
Allah is saying, accept a declaration of war.
And you are going there and saying, I am ready, you are up.
Let’s fight, let’s see who wins.
Please.
That’s why…
…Ibraheem Aadhaim Rahmatullah has said…
…you say you fear Jahannam, but you are running to it.
You don’t run away from it.
Allah has warned us in many places about Jahannam.
For example, Allah has said…

Allah said, which means indeed,
the day of final decision is an appointed time.
It is the day the trumpet will be blown
and you will all come forth in crowds.
The sky will be split open, becoming many gates
and the mountains will be blown away, becoming like a mirage.
Indeed, Jahannam is lying in ambush as a home for the transgressors
where they will remain for endless ages.
There they will not taste any coolness or drink
except boiling water and oozing pus,
a fitting reward.
For they never expected any reckoning
and totally rejected our signs
and we have everything recorded precisely
so the desires will be toward, taste the punishment
for all you will get from us
is more punishment and more torment.
As they say, for the intelligent, a sign is enough.
Aqal mandu ko, hishara kafi.
Descriptions of Jahannam,
are not allegorical.
The descriptions of the Akhirah are not allegorical.
These are literal.
The one who created it,
the one who sees it,
is telling us about it
because only he can tell us.
We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala to
help us to build our yaqeen
because a day will come when we will stand before it.
Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala
says,
differentiated between iman and yaqeen.
Between faith and certainty.
Iman and yaqeen.
Allah says,
ذَلِكَ الْقِتَابُ الْعَرِي وَفِيهِ هُدَى لِلْمُتَّقِينَ
الَّذِينَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْغَيْبِ
Who are the believers?
Who are the mutakeen?
Those who have faith in al-ghaib,
the unperceivable,
which is the Akhirah.
And then later on,
two ayats later,
Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala said,
وَبِالْآخِرَةِ هُمْ يُؤْكِنُونَ
Allah did not say,
يُؤْمِنُونَ
Allah said,
يُؤْكِنُونَ
Now when Allah has already said,
يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْغَيْبِ
What is the need to say,
وَبِالْآخِرَةِ هُمْ يُؤْكِنُونَ
Because,
iman and yaqeen
are two different things.
They are not the same thing.
They are two different things.
To illustrate,
faith comes
from knowledge
and our belief in it.
So we are informed about something,
we believe that thing,
therefore we have faith.
We have been informed that there is death,
we have been informed that there is resurrection after death,
we have been informed that we will stand before Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala,
we have been informed that there is justice,
there is heaven, there is paradise,
there is the hellfire,
and so on,
and we believe in all of this, inshallah.
Yes?
Certainty
comes from a different factor.
Certainty comes from understanding
how this will affect me,
that connection.
To illustrate, let me give you an example.
Imagine that you are
going for a walk in the morning,
and you are walking on a road
that’s on the beachfront,
and on one side of you,
is the ocean,
beautiful waves,
and on the other side of you,
there are all these massive,
big,
luxurious villas,
and each villa has a big gate,
and on the gate,
there is a sign saying,
beware of dog.
Right?
Beware of dog.
So now,
in terms of information,
you have the information
that there is a dog inside this house,
which is potentially dangerous.
Therefore, I need to beware of it.
Right?
That’s the information on the side.
You believe it.
So at this point in time,
you have a map
that there is a dog inside,
which is potentially dangerous.
You continue your walk,
and then you come to a villa,
and you find that the gate is partially open.
And as soon as you come before that opening in the gate,
there is a massive Rottweiler,
which stands up in the aisle,
out of respect for you.
And then he proceeds to come towards you.
You have the map on you.
You can not rest until you’ve reached the range.
You can not rest until you have begun一
You can not rest until you have begun
to try to act right.
All the directions,
they point you not is going slash.
So you give it a nice try every time.
Come to you,
and please come out,
land,
back,
Breath will go, you will start gasping for breath.
You will wish that you had taken advantage of the very nice open gun laws and
you had a gun which you were carrying.
You will wish that you were a monkey who would climb a tree.
You will wish there was a tree.
And all else fails, you start saying,
I’m going to die, let me at least say the kalima and die.
Now what changed?
The dog is still a dog.
The dog is still a dog.
It didn’t turn into a lion.
So how come when you read the sign, beware of dog,
there was no change in your blood pressure,
no change in your breathing, no change, nothing.
But the moment you saw the dog and the dog is now coming towards you,
everything changed.
Why?
Because you suddenly understood the connection between the sign saying,
beware of dog and yourself.
You suddenly understood the connection.
This is the difference between Iman and Yakhir.
That’s why Allah SWT in terms of Jahannam, Allah said,
Aynul Yakhir, Haqqul Yakhir.
Aynul Yakhir.
The God who is not the one having the heart
is the one who is having the heart.
We make our mind of other things,
As quickly as we can,
that is, if we look,
if we understand the spirituality and thus see the liking of other things,
per se the good at one side of the 측,
the bad aspect of the big is at the opposite side of the view of the other sort,
we can divided.
other, there is doubt whether I will get food today, on everything there is some element
of doubt, small or large.
But the one thing in which there is no doubt whatsoever is, that Malakul Maut will come
for us.
The question I want to leave you and myself with is, how will I meet Malakul Maut?
And meeting, there is no doubt about that, and frankly between you and me, it doesn’t
even matter whether you or I believe in that or not, it is going to happen.
Reality is that which is not dependent on belief for it to happen.
This is true, this is real.
Question is, how do I want to meet Malakul Maut?
As somebody who obeyed Allah.
As somebody who is aware of Allah.
As somebody who is a Wali of Allah.
As somebody who looks forward to the forgiveness of Allah.
Or as somebody who accepted a declaration of war from Allah.
I am an enemy of Allah.
Let’s see what Malakul Maut can do, which one?
That is the choice that we have to make.
Do I want to live a life of obedience to Allah ?
Do my best, I agree we cannot be the level of certain people and so on and so forth.
That’s okay.
We do what we try to do our best.
Or live a life of deliberate disobedience, slaves of our desires and then face Allah
which one?
That is the choice.
It is as simple as that.
And as I told you, the Sahaba succeeded because they took it literally.
Allah said this, that’s how it is.
I ask Allah to help us.
And to open our eyes before Allah.
I ask Allah to help us.
Before Malakul Maut comes to open our eyes.
I ask Allah to accept this, to give us this îand from the end this saying that is in
plain language, to fulfill His Kingdom of His Wives and every wearisor.
If we utter it, then Allah will send her His Bakunth .
I ask Allah to show simplicity, He will be in 90 percent on that, and there will be diversity
will be contacting him as Al Ekum patience.
He will be giving us Absolute Creed, Burger of Qudr, whatever is needed.
Throughout all that lifetime.
Jalaluh. I ask Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala to keep us safe in this dunya and to keep us safe in the
akhir. I ask Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala to help us to understand what does it mean to be a wali of
Allah and what does it mean to be an enemy of Allah. We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala to save
us from ourselves and to save us from all the agents of shaitan no matter what their form might
be. We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala to help us and to guide us and to protect us from all that
evil that we know and evil that we don’t know. We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala to be pleased with us
and never to be displeased.
