Alhamdulillah Rabbil Alameen wa salatu wa salamu ala ash-sharafi al-ambiyyi wal-mursaleen Muhammadur Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa ala alihi wa sahbihi wa sallam.
Tasliman kathiran kathiran.
My dear respected brothers, sisters, elders.
Before I begin my khutbah, I ask you to make dua for the forgiveness of the father-in-law of our dear brother Muhammad Kibodia.
Who died today, he was sitting in Juma’ah in the Saf listening to the khutbah.
When the khutbah finished and the Imam said,
People stood up and he was still sitting there.
So somebody said, please stand up.
And he was gone.
La ilaha illallah.
Inna lillahi wa inna alayhi rati.
I ask Allah to give me a khatim. I like this inshallah.
Inshallah.
Allahumma khufir lahu wa rahmah.
Wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.
Wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.
The body of one of our brothers, a revert, who was the only Muslim in that family.
And as I was bathing the body, and I went deliberately.
Alhamdulillah, we have enough people to do this work.
I said, I need the reminder for myself.
So I went.
Because the previous body I bathed was about 25 years ago from the same masjid.
So I thought, too long, the time has passed.
So I need the reminder.
I went there.
And subhanAllah, as I am bathing the body, I am thinking to myself,
this man could have been a billionaire, a trillionaire, and he could own planes,
and he could own, you know, massive palaces and whatnot.
Or he could be somebody off the street from under us,
living out of a shopping cart, which he stole from someplace.
He could be anybody.
All I have there is a body.
And I remind myself and I remind you that one day this will happen to you and me.
This will happen to us.
And I had a, alhamdulillah, an amazing realization at that time.
And I was thinking all this, you know, all this.
Maybe he had wealth, maybe he didn’t have wealth, and so on, so on.
And I was thinking, how can I get this?
And I was thinking, how can I get this?
And I was thinking, how can I get this?
And the question that popped in my mind was, how do I know what will stay here when I’m dying?
When I die, how do I know what will stay here?
And how do I know what goes with me?
And my realization was very simple.
And that was that whatever I can see will remain here.
Whatever it is.
I can see my wife.
She will remain here.
I can see.
I can see my friends.
They will remain here.
I can see my property.
It will remain here.
Whatever I can see will stay here.
What will go with me is how I acquired the property.
What decisions did I make?
How did I behave?
What did I choose?
Where did I choose to earn my living?
Where did I choose to commit to pornography?
And what did I deeply feel that this community needs toď?
I was not safe in the behind of
the altar.
I was not safe in the rise of God by health and sickness.
I was not safe in the rise of God by health and sickness.
I had an addiction to Str pattern You’ll see the money accumulating during this process.
going to my qabar. But the fact that I used my money for a good cause will go with me.
And I think that was a huge reminder for me. He says, Suhaillah, focus on why you are doing
something. What is the niyyah? What is the khilas? What is my ta’allukh with Allah?
Who do I look to for help? Who do I worship?
Salim bin Abdullah bin Umar, radhiallahu anhum, was making tawaf.
When Hisham bin Abdul Malik, the khalifa,
also came to make umrah. So he saw Salim bin Abdullah bin Umar, the grandson of Umar bin
Al-Khattab, radhiallahu anhum, making tawaf. And he looked at him and he saw that his clothes
didn’t look particularly good. They looked old and they looked,
you know, maybe they had some holes in them, Allah knows.
And he was carrying his shoes in his hand.
And he saw that the shoes also looked like they were broken.
So he came next to him while they are making tawaf.
And he said, Salam, and he said to him, tell me, is there anything you need? What can I give you?
I mean, he has a good heart. He’s asking out of good intention. But he says,
tell me, what do you need? What can I give you?
Salim bin Umar,
Salim bin Umar,
radhiallahu anhum,
looked at him with anger.
And he said, are you not ashamed
that you are in the house of Allah
and you are making tawaf of the Kaaba
and you are asking me what I need and what I can tell you?
Are you not ashamed of this?
So Hisham, this is the Khalifa of the time.
They finished their tawaf and so on and
they went to the mosque.
Then Salim bin Abdullah went outside the mosque.
So Hisham bin Abdul Malik, he waited for him to go a distance.
Then he came back to him.
He said, now we are not in the mosque.
So now tell me,
tell me what do you need?
How can I help you?
So Salim bin Abdullah says to him,
shall I tell you about my duniyavi needs,
my needs of this world?
Or shall I tell you about my needs in the Akhira?
He’s saying to the Khalifa, to the King,
shall I tell you about what I need in this life,
in this world?
Or shall I tell you about what I need in the Akhira?
So Hisham bin Abdul Malik,
said to him, ya Sheikh,
I have no control over the Akhira.
So tell me what you need in this life.
Salim bin Abdullah says to him,
I do not even ask the one who owns this world.
I do not even ask the one who owns this world for my needs.
In this life.
He said, you want me to ask you when you don’t own the world?
I do not even ask for my needs to the one who owns the world.
And you want me to ask you when you do not own this world?
Now you might say, well, you know, is it haram to make dua?
No, it is not.
You can make dua.
You can ask Allah, of course.
I’m talking about people who set a standard.
They sat nice and simple.
I am not askingaye.
Allow me to ask Ka’al Ancient dan,
they don’t let you ask Allah’
.
Thank Allah.
So if you ask Allah, ask Allah.
Don’t go begging to people.
At least, don’t do that.
We are on the last of the lessons of
of
lessons that Ibrahim Atheem Rahmatullahi told messages he gave to the people of Basra,
the last three of them.
And the eighth one was, he said,
you busy yourselves with the fault of your brothers while ignoring your own faults.
SubhanAllah, how familiar is that?
How familiar is that?
Everyone has an opinion about everyone else.
Except themselves.
He says, Allah does not accept your dua because you busy yourselves
with the faults of others instead of looking at yourselves.
Where is Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala said,
Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala said in Surah Al-A’zam,
and now indeed you have come to us alone,
in a lonely state.
Now indeed you have come to us alone.
Even as we created you in the first instance,
we were created alone.
And you have left behind all that we bestowed on you in this lifetime.
Everything you can see,
stays here.
And we go to Allah alone.
And Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala is saying that.
I remind myself and you,
that I will go to Allah alone.
You will go to Allah alone.
And whatever we did,
the action,
will go with us.
We will leave behind everything we owned.
The shop in which we sold,
the house we bought,
the house we bought,
the house we bought,
the house we sold,
the house we bought,
will stay here.
The shop in which we sold haram,
will also stay here.
Whether we sold haral or haram,
will go with us.
The house we built,
with halal money,
will stay here.
The house which we built with an interest-based loan,
interest-based mortgage,
and on top of that you write,
I am going to rent this house.
That house will also remain here.
But our decision will go with us.
People’s honour,
people’s property,
that we grabbed,
that we played with,
will still be here.
But the fact
that we tried to attack
the honour of somebody,
that we tried to attack
the property of somebody,
that we tried to attack
the property of somebody,
will go with us.
Others will fight
over those houses
and those shops,
while we will stand naked
and helpless
and ashamed and terrified.

life talking about others and predicting their ending.
And because Allah told us each one will carry his own burden.
No one will carry the burden of anyone else.
Ninth point, he said you enjoy the blessings of your Rabb but you are not grateful.
You enjoy the blessings of your Rabb but you are not grateful.
Just monitor conversations. I say this all the time. Listen to conversations. Do you hear shukur
or do you hear complaints? Whether it is the weather, whether it is politics, whether it is the
job market, whether it is a share market, whether it is the family, do you hear shukur or do you hear
complaints? And the second point is, do you enjoy the blessings of your Rabb?
Do you enjoy the blessings of your Rabb?
Hasan Basri was going down the street and he over a conversation between two people and one man was
complaining about his life to the other man. Hasan Basri stopped and said to him,
what a strange man you are. What a strange man you are.
You are complaining about Ar-Rahman to the one who has no Rahmah.
What a strange man you are. You are complaining about Ar-Rahman to the one who has no Rahmah.
Right? If you complain about your life, what are you complaining about? Allah gave it to you.
That’s why I say, don’t worry about the world because you don’t own it. Belongs to Allah.
Don’t worry about your rizq because Allah said,
Allah said, your rizq is with me. I will give you.
Don’t worry about your future.
Because you have no control over it.
Worry about only one thing. Only one single thing.
And that is, how can I please Allah today? That’s it. This deen is very simple. Extremely simple.
How can I please Allah today? Any action, any speech that you know does not please Allah, do not do it.
No doubts about this. Don’t do it. And anything which you know, pleases Allah, do it.
Because if you are going to deliberately do something which is haram, knowing that it is haram, it is kufr, it escalates.
Don’t do that to yourself.
Don’t do that to yourself.
Don’t do that to yourself.
Don’t do that to yourself.
Don’t do that to yourself.
Don’t do that to yourself.
So he said, you enjoy the blessings of your love, but you are not grateful.
Allah said, so many ayat in the Qur’an,
They have very little thanks, they hardly give thanks.
Alhamdulillah, all of us sitting here, we are in good health.
No way you cut some eggs and pens over, big deal. Doctors have to leave.
If you didn’t leave, you will die.
If you didn’t have the eggs and pens, they would get salaries. So let them live.
Go to Bay State. I do chaplaincy work there. Go to Bay State. Take a walk around.
As they say, you have many problems until you have a health problem.
And then you have only one problem.
So may Allah save us from having only one problem.
So when you have many problems, Alhamdulillah.
When you have many problems, say Alhamdulillah.
Because if Allah gives me only one problem,
I can tell you a number of, I don’t want to waste your time with that.
You know this better than me.
Thank Allah SWT. Always, always thank Allah SWT.
And if there is a problem, keep quiet. Be silent.
Be silent.
If it is paining you so much, again go to Allah.
Mahmud Ghaznavi, the king of Ghazna in Afghanistan, he had a slave called Ayaz.
And he was very fond of that slave. He loved him very much. Both of them were very close together.
So one day in the summer, he was sitting on the top of his palace on the terrace.
And he was eating cucumber.
And he was eating cucumber.
So the king was sitting on a chair.
And Ayaz was sitting at his feet on the floor.
And they were talking about various things.
And as he was sitting there with his cucumber, he had a knife in his hand.
And he kept on cutting slices of the cucumber and giving it to Ayaz.
And Ayaz kept eating them.
Until he had only one slice left. The last slice.
And then he decided to eat it.
He put it in his mouth and he bit it.
And he spat it out. It was bitter.
It was bitter like poison.
Because sometimes cucumbers are like that. They are very bitter.
It was bitter like poison. He spat it out.
He said to Ayaz, SubhanAllah,
I gave you slice after slice after slice.
You did not even,
not only did you not complain,
even on your face I didn’t see anything.
Why didn’t you tell me?
Why didn’t you tell me?
You ate that bitter cucumber without even a chicken on your, on your, you know, on your forehead.
Why didn’t you tell me?
Ayaz said, Your Majesty,
I was so conscious of the hand that was giving it to me,
that nothing else registered.
This is the king giving me the cucumber.
I’m going to say it’s bitter.
I was so conscious
of the hand which was giving this to me,
that nothing else registered.
I didn’t taste it.
While bitter and sweet makes no difference to me.
He’s talking about a human king,
a worldly king with a death,
day of death.
We are talking about Al Malik ul Khuddus.
Al Malik ul Khuddus.
Al Malik ul Khuddus.
Al Malik ul Khuddus.
The Lord of the heavens and the earth,
the Lord of the heavens and the earth,
and all that is between them.
Our Lord and your Lord,
the Most Merciful,
Most Merciful,
in this world and in the Hereafter.
He gives you something you want to complain?
No, I will not complain.
If you have to complain,
complain to Him.
He gives you something you want to complain?
I will not complain.
I will not complain.
If you have to complain,
complain to Him.
He says, Ya Rabb,
Alhamdulillah You gave me this.
Ya Rabb,
give me the strength to bear it.
Ya Rabb,
in Your wisdom,
if You want to take it away,
take it away.
The last thing which Ibn-i-Mudaym
said to the people,
he said,
You take no lesson from them.
You bury your dead,
but you take no lesson from them.
Let me ask a simple question
to myself and you.
How many janazas did we pray
in this masjid in the last year?
I am not asking for
an exact count,
but think about that.
How many janazas did we pray
in this masjid in the last one year?
I have been here six years now.
How many janazas did we pray
in the last six years?
And what did we learn?
What did we learn from that?
How has your or my life changed
in the last six years
thanks to the number of janazas
we prayed here?
Has anything changed?
So how many more janazas
do you want to pray
in the last six years?
Or do you want to be the janaza
from which somebody else takes a lesson?
Sheikh Huisaib Hafizullah,
he had a standard
speech that he used to do
for every janaza.
He would say,
I am going to be silent
and I am going to ask him or her
to speak to you.
So what do we hear?
What are the dead saying to us?
What are they saying to us?
I remind myself in you
that every janaza
is a wake up call.
Until the day comes
when Malakul Maut
will call us directly
to wake us up.
Everybody
is a wake up call.
Everybody
is a wake up call.
Every bain
is a wake up call.
Every khutba is a wake up call.
Every adhan is a wake up call.
The key to understand this
is deep in our hearts
that the only
thing which matters is the
rida of Allah.
Nothing else matters.
Allah said
Kullu nafsin zaaqatul mawt
Tumma ilayna turjaoon
Every living thing
will die.
And to us, you will return.
And for those who refuse to obey
Allah and who continue
to be disobedient and rebellious
Allah said
Falamma nasu ma dhukkiru bihi
Fatahana alayhim
Abwaba kulli shay
Hatta iza farihu bima oto
Akhaznahum baghtatan
Wahum mublisoon
Allah said
when they become oblivious
to warnings
when they ignore the warnings
when they continue to rebel
we opened upon them
the gates of everything
we showered them with blessings
and just as they became arrogant
in what they were given
we seized them
suddenly
and they fell into despair
and they fell into despair
and they fell into despair
and they fell into despair
and they fell into despair
when you see people disobeying
Allah openly
then know that
the doors of the punishment
of Allah
have opened on them
these are not my words
this is not my fatwa
somebody asked Imam Shafi’i
this question
they said, yeah Imam we are seeing people
who are openly disobeying Allah
they are indulging in haram in broad daylight
nothing happens to them
they get even more money
they get even more positions
they get even more authority
so how is it to say that
if a person disobeys Allah
he is punished and if he obeys Allah
he is rewarded
it doesn’t seem to work
Imam Shafi’i
recited this ayat of Surah Al-Anaam
and he said this is the sign
that the doors of
Hidayat have been shut for them
that the doors
of the Adab of Allah have been opened
beware of the silence
of Allah
it is when Allah no longer corrects you
when sins don’t
sting
when sin feels sweet
when your heart stops
trembling at reminders
when you are deprived of guidance
when haram becomes
your normal
when your heart becomes numb
when advice
and warning sounds annoying
when salah
feels like a burden
not a lifeline
when the agents of
shaitan are your friends
and those who remind you about
Allah are irritants
that
is not peace
that is deprivation
because when Allah stops
guiding you it’s the worst punishment
you will not know you are lost
until it’s too late
and you have run out of time
may Allah never leave us
to ourselves
even for the blink of an eye
I remind myself in you
that the worst punishment
in this life
is not a clap of thunder
it’s not a bolt of lightning
it’s not a flood
or an earthquake
it’s not a storm
it’s not a storm
it’s not a storm
it’s not a storm
it’s not a earthquake
it is silence
the greatest punishment
of this life
is silence
silence from Allah
when Allah no longer speaks to you
when Allah no longer warns you
when nothing bad happens to you
when you do something evil
when you are free to do
as much evil as you want
and you are free to do
as much evil as you want
and you are free to do
silence from Allah
silence from Allah
silence from Allah
because they know
if that is happening
if that is happening
know that when people are openly doing haram
and nothing is happening to them
and nothing is happening to them
know that the doors of
azab have opened for them
they still have time
to make a step forward in tawa
and return to Allah
but if they don’t return
they will wait for the time
when malakul maud comes
then there is no return
then there is no return
I remind myself and you
let us take lessons
from those who die
because you and I
will also die
we are not immortal
nobody said we are immortal
so let’s stop acting as if
we are immortal
so let’s stop acting as if
we are immortal
