I have tried to love good deeds and do good deeds so that when I die, they will go with me.
The second lesson that he mentions, he says, I have read in the Quran that Allahﷻ says, وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِ وَنَهَى النَّفْسَ عَنِ الْهَوَىٰ فَإِنَّ الْجَنَّةَ هِيَ الْمَأْوَىٰ سورة النازیات میں اللہ سبحانہ وتعالی نے کہا تھا لیکن جو رب کے پاس جل جلالہو پر بحیثیت کرنے والا تھا رب کے پیچھے اور وہ اپنے خطا فرمائے گا کہ وہ خطا فرمائے گا اور خطا فرمائے گا جنہا وہ اس کے پیچھے ہوگا اللہ سبحانہ و تعالیٰ کہتا ہے کہ انہا جنہا یہ ہے جو ہوا ہے جنہا اس کے پیچھے ہوگا اب لہذا کہہ سکتا ہے کہ میں جانو جلالہ جلالہو کہ جو اس کے پیارے پیارے پیارے پیارے پہنچیں گے جلالہ جلالہو ایک عذیبہ دن ہے اور اس کے ساتھ وہ اپنے نعمتوں سے جنگ اور جنگائی سے بردر بھرنے والے ہیں تو بالکل جنہ کو وہاںradoنا جائے گا۔ اس کا جنگ اور جنگ ہونے والے ہوئے گارے گا۔ وہ کہتا ہے کہ میں نے اپنے نعمتوں کی محرومی نگاہوں سے بہترین آگیا pains اور میں نے اللہ سبحانہ وتعالیٰ کے دعوت میں بہترین ہوئے گئے۔ اب یہ حقیقت ہے کہ ہم اللہ سبحانہ وتعالیٰ پہنچیں گے۔ یہ ہمارے لئے کوئی بہترین نہیں ہے۔ یہ کچھ نئی نہیں ہے۔ کچھ بہترین نہیں ہے۔ ہم سب یہ جانتے ہیں۔ کیا ہم یہ جانتے ہیں؟ There is an intellectual level which we know in our head that this will happen. And then there is a very visceral level where we know this in the deepest part of our being. And the sign of that, the sign of knowing it at a visceral level is action. This is action. Something we know at a superficial level, sati, this we know that does not produce action. Action happens when you know something at the level, at the visceral level, literally in your heart, in your being.
The thing about that, the way we even think, for example, if somebody says child, you are are not in your mind, you are not seeing C-H-I-L-D. Those who have children, the face of your child comes. Those who have older children, the face of your son or daughter who today is in their 20s, 30s, 40s, you will remember them as they were as babies, as little children. They run around, one-year-old, two-year-old. It brings a smile to your lips because in are in your mind you are seeing that image that is so real for you the sign of something being real is this i always give the example of you know knowing some place and then when you are going there you are thinking differently the other day i mentioned to you of knowing that there is a tiger there is a lion but when you see it in front of you very different. Recently, we went to Africa and in one of the game sanctuaries, there is part of a rehabilitation project. So, there are lions and tigers and they are behind electric fences. So, you can walk there and you can see they are two feet away, but there is an electric fence. Now, the same animal, if the fence is not there, what will happen? Same electric fence is the wire, but the animal also has learnt that wire has current in it, so it won’t go near it. But how do you know there is current? You didn’t check at this moment, maybe somebody switched it off, we don’t know. The animal also doesn’t know, so it still doesn’t attack you, because it thinks there is some current in it. But the same thing, you are seeing it from behind a fence, and if the fence is not there, then what will happen to your blood pressure, what will happen to your heart rate? Very different.
My mother used to tell this story, that there was a king who, one day he went with his whole court and entourage on a cruise, on a boat cruise. So they are going and one of the people in that entourage who was on the boat, he was afraid of water and he was afraid of why he got on the boat in the first place, I don’t know, anyway he was there. So he was making a lot of noise, oh my God, we will all drown and this will happen and that will happen, what will happen if you fall in the water. So he made such a nuisance that the king King said to one of his, whoever is there, he said to him, tie a rope to his ankle, make sure he doesn’t die and throw him in the river and drag him behind the boat. So they did that. They tied a rope around his ankle and threw him in the water and dragged him along for some time and almost when he has drunk a lot of water and so on, they hauled him back up and you know now he is completely drenched he is drunk God knows how many gallons of river water he sat there in the boat quiet absolutely not a sound because he understood what does it mean to drown he had never drowned before he had never been in the water before so he is making a lot of oh what will happen but once he is in the water and outside now he understands what is the meaning of drowning he didn’t drown but he understands what does it mean to be actually in the water and going up and down now he understands so immediately his life changes he doesn’t make all this noise he knows the reality so when we think about the akhira we have to ask ourselves how real is it to me how real is jannah how real is zanahar said an alim is to say that if allah subhanahu wa ta’ala causes jannah to come in front of me here i can see it with my eyes, the level of my Iman or my level of my belief in Jannah will not change because I already believe in it with such a level of reality that if I actually see it, there will be no surprises. That is the level of reality with Jannah and with Naar. So the Sahaba, this was the thing with the Sahaba, Ridhman-ur-Rahim alayhi majma’in, Rasulullah used to describe these things of the Akhira, the Jannah and Naar and the Day Day of Judgement and so on, these were so real to them. And because they were so real to them, they did what they did.
We know the… I mentioned this story before, the story of Abu Dahdah al-Ansari, Radhiyallahu Anhu. So many of these stories, Suhaib al-Rumi, Radhiyallahu Anhu for example, people who migrated from from Makkah. It’s a long story, beautiful story. He was called Rumi because he had been a slave of the Romans. He was actually from Yemen and he was the son of one of the chiefs of Yemen. His mother took him for a holiday to her family’s place which was near the sea. اور جب انہوں نے اپنے گھنٹے میں تھا، ایک رومانی ایک نیچے پہلے، انہوں نے جن کے ساتھ خراب کرا اور وہ کوئی بھی کوئی کوئی بھی کھانا کرتے ہیں اور ایک آدمی تھا، یہاں تھا۔ And they took him away, sold him off, some Roman bought him, so he stayed in that Roman’s house, he grew up there, so he could speak Latin, so his Arabic was accented. So the Arabs used to call him Rumi, they used to call him, he’s a Roman. He was not a Roman, he was an Arab, he was a Yemeni Arab. So, anyway, eventually he found himself in Makkah. One of the big people from Makkah, Quraish, he purchased him, so he was a slave of one of the Quraish in Makkah. So when he came there, he said to his master, he said, look, I am educated, I am a trader by profession, I know how to trade and so on, so there is no point in making me dig holes or something, let me trade and you and I will be partners. So, you take the majority of the profit, I will take some, but I will also make money, you also make money. So, it’s beneficial for you, I do all the work, you get the same system that to this day in South Arabia, you take a kafil, that guy is getting money for nothing. So anyway, so that was their arrangement. In that process, Sahiba Rumi Radhe Laan, he became very wealthy, I mean, in the sense of he had accumulated a lot of wealth. So he used to He Had obviously Kept it somewhere Safe And Then he Met Rasulullah And he accepted Islam So now his owner Got very Worried and concerned He Said He Is Not About Islam He Said This Fellow Now He Becomes Muslim And then you know He Either he Will Go Away With Muhammad Somewhere or Something And I Will Lose This Source Of Income So he used to keep A Strong Watch on him Then Rasool Allah went to Madinah, he migrated to Madinah. So then the watch on Soebar Rumi got even more doubled because he was afraid that he will go away to Madinah. But that’s exactly what he wanted to do. So one day he gave them the slip and he took off.
So after he left, they realized that he’s gone. So they sent people to chase him and bring him back. So, now he’s in the desert, he’s going, he’s running, behind him, this whole bunch of the posse from Makkah is behind him. And so, Rumi realized that he can’t escape because there are too many of them and so on. So, there was a hillock, a stony hillock, he climbed to the top of that and he was on top of the hill. So, these people surrounded him. So, as they surrounded him and they came up, So, everyone also realized that this can only end in one way because there are that many of them. If I am just sitting here, I can’t just sit here forever. At some point, I will sleep. At some point, they can take turns in sleeping. I can’t take turns. So, this is only going to end in one way. That’s not a good way. So, he said to them, look, first of all, he said, stay where you are because he says, you know, I am an archer and I am very good with a bow and arrow. And he said, I’ve got arrows in my quiver and every arrow has the name of one of you. Written on it. So it’s meaning that if you come close, I’ll kill you. So that is one thing. So now there is a, you know, balance of power. And then he said, look, I have done now no crime. So you are not here to catch me for any crime. I know why you are here behind me. He Said, I Will Tell You Where I Have Kept My Hoard, Whatever I Have Kept. That Is Life’s Wealth. That’s All He Has. So he Says, I Will Tell You Where It Is. You Go Take It and Let Me Go. They said, okay. He told them, that’s in such and such a place. They left him. They all went to get their money. And Swayamvar Rumi was free to leave. He left. He reached Makkah. He reached Medina. جب گلٰہ رسول اللہ عنہ之ہت پر ہمارے وہاں سے جاری ہو اور خود چل گئی، نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ابھی نبی علیہ وسلم کے مطابق جب رضی اللہ علیہ اللہ عنہ درام دے کہ یہ ہونے والا ہے۔ اور نبی علیہ السلام کو یہ چاہتا ہے باہر صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے سے صحیح programmes بھی کہا mira اور وہاں نے ب només کہا کیا اس کی اس کی مو human deal ہے؟ اور وہاں نے ب només کہا کیا اس ج trendy 투ریم ہے؟ والا ہے نے کہا کیا اس کی سب سے ایک 0316 pienیمز پاک ہے؟ صرف اگر آپ کوئن یا دائمون کو سی ہلو سوال کرتے ہیں تو یہ بارگین ہے لیکن اگر کہیں کہ میرے ہاتھ کو سی ہلو چاند کو سی ہلو نہیں ہے یہ میرے کے لئے بارگین ہے یہ آپ کے لئے نہیں ہے۔ صرف اس نے کہا کہ کیا بارگین ہے اور کیا بارگین تھا بارگین تھا کہ وہ کچھ ہی کھایا رہا تھا۔ لیکن آپ نے جنہ کیا۔ انہوں نے کھڑی گئی۔ آپ نے جنہ کو نہیں دیا۔ وہ اپنے راستے میں تھا۔ وہ ایک مالکے تھا۔ اس کے راستے میں۔ وہ مکہ میں مالک اور دل کو کم ہی تھا۔ مدینہ میں وہ کچھ نہیں تھا۔ وہ بار کے پیچھے سے سوچا تھا۔ لیکن نبی علی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے کہا کہ اس کا بارگین کیا ہے؟ اس نے ہمیں حیرت کی بات کیا کہا؟ اس نے ہمیں جنہ کی حیرت کی بات کیا کہا؟ on a side note also think about this if you are that in that group say you are the leader of the group which is surrounded Swayabhav Rumi and Swayabhav Rumi says my wealth is in such and such a place all of you leave me go and get it what will you do what will I do what is the sensible thing to do everyone goes what is what is the right thing to do everyone stays you send one man to go check Is he lying or is he speaking the truth? Why didn’t they do that? They’re not stupid.
Why didn’t they do that? They didn’t do it for the same reason why I was in South Africa in 2005, about 20 something years ago, and I met one of the judges of the High Court. And in the course of conversation, he said to me, there was a time in this country during the Apartheid regime, when the whites were in control, Muslims were not required to swear or take an oath on the Bible or on the Quran when they were called to witness in courts. This is the Christian Apartheid regime. If a Christian was called as a witness, he had to swear on the Bible, I will speak the truth and nothing but the truth. but if a Muslim was called he did not need to take any oath I said why he said because they said Muslims do not lie it is official the government of the day which is not a Muslim government which is a Christian government apartheid regime the Muslims were not one single white Muslim there at the time we’re talking about Muslims were all mostly they were were Indian and maybe a few black people, Muslims don’t lie and they knew that and they believed it to the point they said, just say what it is, we believe you, you don’t have to take an oath. They believed Suhaib Arvumi Radiyallahu Anhu because Muslims do not lie. He Says, There’s No Point All Of Us Sitting Here And Waiting And Whatnot, The Man Told Us, Let’s Go.
سوچیں یہاں ایک بھارا ہے آپ کیری ریخ کرنے کے لئے کوشش کر رہے ہیں، اگر آپ وہاں ملیں گے تو آپ مجھے کل سکتے ہوگا، آپ اپنے کلمہ کے لئے اتنا تجھے رحمت ہوا رہے ہیں۔ اس نے آپ کو ارگے یہاں فرمایا کہ تو آپ اسے ھلچایا، میں اسے آئیں گا کیوں میں آپ کو بھروسہ کرتا ہوں؟ کیونکہ آپ مسلمان ہیں، یہی تو ہے۔ بھروسہ کریں، یہ یہی اطلاعہ ہے جو انہوں نے اللہ help of Allah . It Is This Character Which Convinced People, It Is This Character Which Opened The Hearts Of People To Islam. It’s Not Big Lectures And Whatnot. Muslims Don’t Lie. So we ask Allah to help us too. The beauty of saying all this is not to talk about negative things. The thing is to say, this is what we were, this is what we can become starting from this minute onwards. Even if you are the biggest liar in the world, nothing stops you from saying stopping that. You make the intention and say, from this minute onwards I will not tell a lie, no matter what. Okay. Don’t tell a lie. Nobody is like this, nobody is a liar, but even if that is the case, even if you are somebody who, people, we tell lies as jokes. We tell lies just like that. Telling somebody I will come at this time and not going is a lie. This is almost بقریب ہماری سنبیت دنیا میں اللہ حافظ عطا فرمائے نہیں آگے اور نہیں آگے نہیں ہمارا لنگا یہ صرف ایمان کے علاوہ ہے اگر کسی آتا ہے کسی آج مجھے جوکنگ لیں کسی مسلمان صرف آگے آج کہتا ہے آپ مسلمان ہوں سوال کلمہ پڑھو۔ آپ مسلمان ہوتے ہوئے وفد میں کیسا ہے ہاں آپ کا ایمان خراب دی گئے لگو چیز پرابلم سمتاں پرابلم with your ایمان how is it you are on time you are supposed to be a muslim we have converted this into a joke we say muslim time arab time how shameful is that how utterly shameful is that we used to have in our mosque in Massachusetts we used to have interfaith programs there have been times in the interfaith program where the people you invite, who are the Christians and the Jews, they come and our own people are not there. Side And Guests Are Here Already Because For Those People You Say Five O’Clock Is Five O’Clock Five O’Clock Is Not Open To Interpretation Doesn’t Mean 10 Things To 10 Different People Five Is A Number So 5 P.M Means 5 P.M It Doesn’t Mean Anything Else And They Don’t Can Tell You Oh You Know This Traffic Was You Know There Is Traffic What Else Is There On The Road You Know There Is Traffic Why Why Are You Surprised There Is Traffic So Leave Leave Home Only. That Is Why People Have No Respect For Us. Because We Don’t, We Give Up Nothing. Same Thing, You Take A Carpenter, You Take A Tailor, These Are, I Mean, May Allah Have Mercy, It’s Almost Like A Guarantee That If The Guy Tells You, I Will Deliver At This Time, He May Deliver At Any Other Time But Not The Time He Told You. La Allah Wa Ta’ala. And Then We Say, We Are People Of Ima, We Are People Of Faith, We Are People Of, You Know, The Qur’an, And La Hawla Quwwata Illa Allah. All Of This Is Lying. This Is All Lying. The Enemies Of Suhaib Al-Rumi, Radhiallahu Anhu, Were There To Kill Him. Believed Him. For No Reason. Because He’s A Muslim. Enemies Of The They Believed Him.
So I remind myself and you, Allah Subh’anaHu Wa Ta-A’La said, the one who fears standing before Islam. The fear of standing before our Rabb is is to fear standing before him as a liar, to fear standing before him as somebody who did not speak the truth. For no reason, it’s not a question of compulsion, it’s not as if somebody is killing you and therefore you have to, that’s okay, some telling a lie in that situation is understandable. This is our routine, it has become the norm for us. May Allah have mercy on us. We ask Allahﷻ to make the standing before Allah a reality in our life. This is the Akhira, it is real. Whether you believe it or not, it is real we ask allah to make this real in our hearts in a way that we fear that standing before him and we look forward to jannah we ask allah Elhamdülillahi Rabbil Alemin.
