The Haqq (right) of the Qur’an

Auto-generated transcript:

I want to share some thoughts with you. I am going to borrow for Barakah. So, just Allahﷻ, negate the acceptance; accept Allah’s rights.

Allahﷻ said, “وَاعْتَصِمُوا بِحَبْلِ اللَّهِ جَمِيعًا وَلَا تَفَرَّقُوا” (Wa’itassimu bi-habli-lillah jamee’an wa laa tafarraqoo). Allahﷻ said, Hold on to the rope of Allah together and do not divide.

The rope of Allah is what? It is the Kitab of Allah. The Kitab of Allah has a Haqq. Just like Allahﷻ has a Haqq. And the problem with Haqq is that Waqoof are to be fulfilled. If the Haqq is not fulfilled, the person is liable for punishment.

So, Waqoof are not voluntary. Waqoof are not discretionary. You can’t say, “It’s up to me. I fulfill. I have not fulfilled.” No. If something is a Haqq on you, then you have no choice but to fulfill that Haqq. You get married; your wife has a Haqq on you. The husband has a Haqq on her.

So, you can choose before you get married: “I want to marry you,” or “I don’t want to marry you.” But once you marry, there is no choice of saying, “Well, you know, if I feel like it, I will fulfill.” No, for laying down. Once you marry, when you made the Haqq, when you accepted and you said, “This is Qabool,” along with the Qabooliyat came the Haqq.

When you say, “I agreed to marry this woman,” she comes with a Haqq which you have to fulfill. And same thing with the woman. When she says, “I agree to marry this man,” he comes with his Haqq. So, when we say, “La ilaha illallah, Muhammadur Rasulullah,” this is the Akhlaaq. Akhlaaq is the agreement. It’s the covenant. It’s the binding. It’s not just about the agreement; Akhlaaq is the bind. The binding, the agreement, and the covenant. So, this is the Akhlaaq between the woman and the man, and between Allah and His servant.

Between Allahﷻ and His slave, the minute you say, “La ilaha illallah, Muhammadur Rasulullah, Sallallahu alayhi wasallam,” that statement comes with its Huqooq. And the number one Haqq of that statement of “La ilaha illallah, Muhammadur Rasulullah” is to be faithful to Allahﷻ. It is to hold the rope of the Prophet. The rope of Allah is the Kalimat of Allah. The Quran.

The question is, how do you hold the rope of Allah? In one hand? In one leg? If you hold your neck, how do you hold it?

Many years ago, I was rappelling off the War of Senegal Fort in Quneh on top of the plateau. And I was standing on top of the battlefront. It was like maybe 300 feet down to rocks. One slip and you have to be scraped off the rocks.

So the instructor gave me the rope. He tied it around me. And he used a particular kind of knot. And that knot was something which, if I lose control, it would lock. So he told me: when I don’t lose control, the same knot slips and I can go down and I can go up as I wish.

So now, if I say, “Here is the rope, here is the knot,” which is more important? I would say that’s a stupid question. Because without the rope, there is no knot. But the rope without the knot gives you no safety.

So in the question of the rope of Allahﷻ, what is the knot? The knot is the Sunnah of Muhammad Rasulullah.

How should I hold the rope? The way that Rasulullah held the rope. There is no separation in Deen and Hidayah between Allah and His Rasul. Allahﷻ appointed the appointed one!

Who is the Rasool? He is on the Siratul Mustaqeem. He is the Siratul Mustaqeem. He is the road which takes you to Allah. He is the road which takes you to God.

So what is the Haqq of the Kitab-ul-Banbi? The first and foremost Haqq of the Kitab-ul-Banbi is that it should be read. It should not just be kept wrapped up in a nice velvet cloth and put inside the house for Barakah. It’s not Jadoo. It’s not Bantar. It’s not some Tawiz or something you put in the house to save you. No. The book of Allah is the map for this life.

What is the purpose of the map? To follow it. The map is not meant for you to wrap it up nicely and put it in the room and say, “Oh, that is a map.” No. It should be in your hand. The first Haqq is to read it. And to read it, remember the rope and the knot. To read it, how? The way Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam taught us to read. That is why the importance of Tajweed in the Quran, Al-Kareem, because a single change in the way the pronunciation is done—if the pronunciation is changed even a little bit—first of all, it is a lack of integrity. It is a denial of the Haqq of the Kalam of Allah. Even if the meaning is not changed. You might say, “I recited like this but the meaning did not change.” So the Salah is varied. No. That’s a different issue. That’s an issue of Fiqh. I’m talking about the issue of the heart. Of the Kalbullah.

What right do you want to have to change the way the Kalam of Allah was recited by Allah Himself? Remember this Kitab? The writing of it came much later. This is first and foremost the Kalam of Allah. After that, Kitab Allah. First, Kalam Allah.

It was written later on as a record. It is the speech of Allah. It is a Sifat of Allah. It is not a created thing. It is not Makhluk. The Kitab is written. The Kitab can be bought. It can be thrown. All kinds of things happen. May Allah have mercy. But the Kalam of Allah, La Yamassu Illal Mutahharun. Nobody can touch it. Except the ones who are good, which is the Malaikah. The Kalam of Allah is the speech of Allah. Allah spoke to Jibraeel. Jibraeel spoke to Rasulullah. Rasulullah spoke to the Sahaba. Ridwanullah. And they heard the Kalam of Allah.

The Quran is the spoken word. It is the word which is heard. And because it is heard by those whose hearts are pure, it goes straight into the heart. And it produces an effect.

That is the second Haqq. The first Haqq is that it should be read in the way it should be read according to the Usool of Tajweed. The Quran is not sealed. The Quran is not a song. The Quran is not Raadi. The Quran is the Kalam of Allah which must be recited in the way Allah’s Quran is recited. And that is the quest that the btn-Umm manufactures.

And that quest that the btn-Umm manufactures today we are in this place; we are nowhere close to them. We can never be, but that is the zimmedari—that is the responsibility—of the reciter to recite it in a way which does hak to the karam. It’s not an ego thing; it’s not a personal “you know, I like,” no. Like this is the karam of Allah, there’s no “like.” The second effect is the effect of the heart. The effect of the heart when Allah said, “Ya ayyu allatheena amanu, ittaqullaha hakka tuqatih wala tamootunna illa wa antum muslimoon.” Allahﷻ said, “Oh you believe, have the taqwa of Allah, fear the displeasure of Allah as it is His right: ‘hakka tuqatih,’ and do not die except in the state of Islam: ‘wala tamootunna illa wa antum muslimoon.'”

So for that, you must understand who is Allah. We live in this world, this earth. This earth is a small planet, significant small planet, part of a solar system. The center of which is the sun, which is the star. This star, this sun, and this solar system is part of what we know as the Milky Way galaxy. Now if you take a grain of sand, pull it up like this, and close one eye, that grain of sand blocks out a piece of the sky. That grain of sand blocks out a piece of the sky than our sun. Maybe they have solar systems. Maybe there are planets. Maybe there are life forms on those planets. Maybe they are like us. Maybe they are different. We don’t know.

Many, many years ago, I think it was probably 19 or 20 years old. So, probably 1970 or something. I was lying on my back in the sand in the river Kadab. In the Sahyani hills in Kaval, in Telangana, Adilabad. Now, why was I lying there? That’s a long story. InshaAllah, one day we’ll talk about it. Pitch dark night. And I was lying in the sand on my back looking at the sky. And the sky was like some black cloth with diamonds sewn on it. Just tarred, nothing else. There was no boat. So, there was no light pollution. And the starlight was the strongest. Nothing else.

And as I lay there, I can hear, I heard a sapper calling just below the hill, which is the surest sign that there is a tiger on the ground. The surest alarm call is that of the summer. I’m looking at the stars. And I thought to myself that the light of the star which I am seeing—when you say “I’m seeing,” what does it mean? It means that the light from that point has hit on my retina, right? So, I thought to myself that the light of the star which I am seeing took I don’t know how many million light years to get from that star to me.

Now, stars have life spans just like we have life spans. Stars die. So, I said, maybe the star which emitted that light, that ray of light, is dead. So many hundreds of thousands of millions of light years ago. Maybe the star is dead. But I am seeing it. Because only now, after so many million light years, that light hit my retina. So, I’m saying, “Ah, there is a star,” but there’s no star. That star died. After its last ray, the star is dead. That last ray is dead. That last ray took a billion light years to get to me.

So, when I’m saying “I am seeing,” what do you see? This is Allah. This is one galaxy. And in the visible universe which they have seen using the Hubble telescope and others, there are trillions of galaxies like this galaxy. And the creator of all of that, of all that we know, and all that we don’t know, is Allahﷻ. And it is His words that we are listening to.

So, the third law is, it should produce a result in the heart. And that is that the heart manufactures the Iman. And when the ayat of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala are recited before that, then Iman increases. And the result of these two things: They have faith in their Raqqa; they have Tawakku on their Raqqa; they have reliance on their Raqqa.

So what is the effect of the recitation of the Quran? What are we looking for? Number one, what is it doing to my heart? Is anything happening to my heart? If nothing is happening to my heart, then believe me, we are not fulfilling the right of the Haqq of Allah. And I told you the problem with rights: You don’t fulfill your Qulub. We ask Allah to forgive us. First, what is the effect on the heart? And the second thing is because of this effect on the heart. Because the heart is shivering with the glory and majesty of Allah, it is filled with the Nur of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala. The Nur of Hidayah. And therefore all fear goes away. What is the meaning of Tawakku? Complete reliance on Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala. But this is happening in the world. That’s happening. Who cares? Who cares? Then it happens. This will happen. Worse than that will happen. Who cares? Because I have faith in my heart. I have faith in Allah. He is that Haqqa.

And if it’s not happening, then we must fall in Sujood and cry before Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala. And say, “Ya Rabb, I have your Qalam. I have it in my heart. I am very deep of this Qalam. It is doing nothing to me. How will I face you?”

How will I face you? I am listening to the Qalam. The Qari is reciting. I am listening to the Qalam. Nothing happens. My mind is somewhere. So I thought let me remind myself and you: That we are here to hold the rope of Allah. The greatest honour that Allah gave to us is to make us a Muslim. I have right now felt the way people know to me who have only a name. Their name is an Arabic name or a family name or something I don’t know; I would say it’s a Muslim name. Nothing else. Ramadan comes, Ramadan goes, no effect.

So how much should we thank Allah? Don’t look down on them. Have pity on them. Make go of it. But thank yourself. Thank Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala. Allah didn’t make you that. Allah gave you the office to come to the mosque, to pray Salah by Jannah, to stand behind the Imam, and listen to Tarawih, and so on, and read Quran, and fast. But at the end of that, there should be an effect. Alhamdulillah, Allah gave me this. Now because Allah gave me this, how am I different from anybody else? Not for superiority and inferiority, but I am the one who is the Hamil of the ni’mah of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala. The Qalam of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala is something for us to respond to.

Allah is asking a question: “How many of my ni’mat will you deny?” What’s the answer? Do you give an answer? You are supposed to ask a question. You are being asked a question. So what is the answer? Allah is saying, “Don’t they reflect on the Quran?” What’s the answer? Or are their hearts locked up?

So I remind myself Binju. Let us focus. Alhamdulillah we have put in seven days, Adbaat. One week I don’t know where it went just like that. The rest of us will go away. And we don’t know who will be here. All of us we are. You know literally we are. We are thinking the other day. We can look like this; I can know spaces. That is where. Where is the… That is where. This is where right? Adnan’s house. So I till today when I look there I can see. That’s why I don’t like to speak here but I am asking about your son. Yes. See in that door. That door he wouldn’t be there. Why? You were in Ithaka box. I went up for some. To the bathroom as well. Food was going on. So we used to wait for. I said don’t wait for. Just eat everybody. Finish it. Everything is done. I went to the coffee after some time. When I came down, Binju is standing there. So what food do you want? I said “I will eat it.” You are crazy. Why are you waiting for me? I am going to eat it. No, I won’t eat without you.

We were in Tharava Zeeshan, me, Shakir. I was. We were all in Tharava. We were there supposed to be there for three days. Half late after evening of that day, we get a message saying: “I am going to eat is mercy for his info.” Barakah is this; we ask Allah to help us. But the effort we have to wait clean up your act if you owe something somebody give it back. If you have taken somebody’s right, give it back. Believe me, you don’t want to face Allah with that. If you go to Allah and somebody’s right is in your pocket, may Allah have mercy because nothing else nobody will help. There is you. Have somebody who apologize make a mix right. And ham is not and not say you kill the school with somebody. Maybe you the way you talk somebody. Maybe you know they use your new summer. I read something or alumnus you had an agreement with someone you would do this, you would do that—you didn’t do that.

Well I was… get the forgiveness on the Indian individual here. This word will are in on the day of judgment nobody will forgive nobody. You are a poor mother won’t for you; your mother won’t for you. You don’t wait for that day finished clear clear. We think you know close your accounts and do that every night before you go to sleep because we don’t talk whether we will wake up in the morning to do it. In I will do it a shell the coverist and the graveyard is full of those who said “I will practice Islam when I become old.” The green bed is full of it. You are you are liable for us now. My car to the retired welcome you will be retired in your grave before that then you will go to a love swallow color with your house. Do don’t do that. Go down to that yes Carlos right or is a little to help us remember our duty fulfill it. We ask Allah would Barakah at that you actually have to take it easy for us. He said that I said that we ask Allah to forgive all our friends in medicine, all those who used to be… although the use business we ask Allah for the whole with norms. We ask Allah so matter we accept their being here. We ask Allah made this lesson and all those who come here and all these people a source of the idea for me to meet your judge service election like you general hopes on that is my set in Piazza Barzani to side just a proper top MVP.
